Christmas Megaways slot by Iron Dog Studio is pretty simple to review as we have seen it all before with Pirate Kingdom Megaways slot, but now there's festive fun added to the symbols. The latter game proved popular it must be said! To compete at the same time as Christmas Megaways we've had the usual flurry of seasonal slots, such as Red Tiger's Jingle Bells Power Reels, but my personal favourite is Microgaming's volatile classic Deck The Halls. Like those games, we get a predictable wintry scene, the usual symbols and gentle Xmas music to play along to. Will it be a Christmas bonus for our bankroll, or reheated sprouts?

No scrolling reel of single symbols on Christmas Megaways slot so with 2-7 random symbols on each reel, we get 64-117649 ways. Symbols can appear stacked, Wild Stars on reels 2-6 of which a maximum of 3 can have a 2x multiplier. No scatters as we don't need them for bonus triggers, no random modifiers we simply have the 6-of-a-kind pays to deal with now. These range from 25x for the top paying Christmas Tree which is the only symbol to pay for just 2OAK, 5x Presents then assorted symbols like the Stocking and card values paying 2 down to 0.6x. Winning symbols are replaced from above so more than one win per spin can occur.

This is where it becomes far more entertaining as we need 4 or more winning actions in one spin to trigger them. For this you get 8 spins, plus two for each win over the four necessary up to a maximum of 14 spins. Retriggers occur in the same way, starting at 2 extra spins for 4 actions with 2 more for each one over the 4, maximum 14 in one go. You get an increasing multiplier as usual but your enhancement is that 7-row reels landing will sticky at maximum height for the duration plus add 1x to your multiplier. Land all 6 at 7 rows and you play the remaining spins on maximum 117649 Megaways! The more 7 row reels locked, the more likely you are to see retriggers, especially if they are to the left. Over 20,000x can be won here, but you would need 4 or 5 reels fully expanded early on.
Our View...
Christmas Megaways slot has a 96.20% RTP and does the Christmas theme quite well with nice easy graphics, sounds and animations. The base game is hard to hit big on unless getting a large number of ways with a few Wilds, hopefully one or two at 2x. The bonus is hit-and-miss but you'll know when Santa is going to let you have his whole sack full as you'll get early 7-row reels, say 3 or 4 in the left-hand five. This will lead to many wins, therefore many more multipliers and consequently a great likelihood of many extra spins. Christmas Megaways could well be top of your wish list for this festive season...
