There are 20 pay lines on the standard grid of 5 reels and 3 rows and we will learn that everything of note here revolves around the various Wilds. First though we need to gauge the volatility and see the pays for the various symbols which can all appear stacked bar the Wilds. Naturally the standard Wild is top-pay with 25x bet for a 5-of-a-kind win followed by a series of remarkably buxom fairies (inspired by Netent?) with the Sunflower one paying 12.5x, the blue 10x, pink 9x and finally the blue at 7.5x stake for the 5. There are no card values but various shapes of gemstone jewellery which either pay 4 or 5x your bet for 5.
In-play we come across the second type of Wild, The Re-spin Wild. This can produce some decent wins because when it appears and the reels re-spin it leaves a white circle on the grid where its position was. The reels continue to re-spin until no new Re-spin Wilds are added and as well as these Re-spin Wilds leaving a white circle so do the standard Wilds when they appear! If a Wild of any type falls into an existing white circle on a re-spin, then the game will add a circle somewhere else on the grid. As soon as you get a re-spin that doesn't add another Re-spin Wild you are granted a final 'Returning Wild' spin and as you may have guessed the game placed a standard Wild in all the white circles that have appeared and it is possible to fill the whole grid for a 500x bet pay.
The final type of Wild is the Free Spins Wild which only appears on reels 1, 3 and 5 and is formed of the slot's icon. You get 10 free games which cannot be retriggered and play 9 as normal and all Wilds will leave their white circle behind until the tenth and final spin where they will all be filled in with Wilds again, same as with the Re-spin Wilds feature described above. Goldwyn's Fairies slot has innovative and quite clever ideas based around Wilds which we haven't seen before, so clearly some attempts at originality have been made by this developer. The RTP is 96% and volatility on the low side which certain players either love or hate. Unfortunately it's yet another game where good mechanics have been undermined by the sheer immaturity of the graphics and theme: if I wanted to see fairies I'd dig out the old books I used to read to my daughter at bedtime when she was two or three, not choose a slot to play! I'm afraid Goldwyn's away with the fairies...
