Cash Splash slot review
What do you do when you have a popular progressive online slot filled with classic elements and a simple interface? Why, launch a mobile version of it, that’s what. Formerly a classic 3 reel slot and later upgraded to a 5 reel version, renowned slots developer Microgaming’s Cash Splash is that rare beast: a progressive slot available for mobile phones and tablets. Yep, now mobile casino players can enjoy the same big progressives that their online cousins take advantage of on a regular basis.
Not So Las Vegas!
The 5 reel slot has transferred well into the mobile world, with crisp, colourful graphics and the same features as online. Well, almost the same. Here, the paylines are fixed – 15 in total – and there’s no ‘Expert’ mode to allow you to set the reels how you want them. Gone too are the background Vegas noises that the online version has.
On the Reels...
As with Microgaming’s other mobile offerings, you can swipe the game screen along left and right to access the betting screen and paytable respectively. The betting screen has drop-down menus allowing you to change the coin size, coins per line and Sounds, plus whether you want the Gamble option on or off. Personally, I found the Gamble button pretty small (it occupies a space along the right-hand side of the game screen) and kept missing it entirely with my chunky fingers, especially on a small phone.
Having said that, the graphics are crisp and clean, and the reels are packed with classic symbols like 7s, Cherries, BAR icons, Money, and the usual Jack-through-Ace fare. You will feel like you are playing a slot that could be found on the casino floors in Sin City as you play this in the comfort of your own home.
Earn 250x Your Bet
The Cash Splash logo acts as the game’s Wild, and substitutes for all regular symbols other than the Scatter. The progressive jackpot is paid if five Wild logos appear on the 15th payline. Micrograming go for originality in making the Scatter logo the game’s Scatter. There are no free spins or bonus rounds for hitting Scatters, but five of them across the reels will pay a 250x win.
The progressive jackpot is the draw here, and fans of Classic-style slots should get a kick out of the simple, almost made-for-smartphone interface. The reels fill up the screen nicely, but as with some other Microgaming mobile slots I found the spinning reels a little too smooth. It would have been nice to hear a nice thud as they came to a rest. Having said that, Cash Splash is good for some quick fun on the move. Check out MG’s other classic-style slot, Burning Desire while you’re loading up the apps.
