Emperor of The Sea slot

Emperor of The Sea slot review

emperor of the sea slot main gameMicrogaming's Emperor of The Sea joins an plethora of Oriental-themed slots in various casino lobbies. There are 5 reels of 4 rows and you can opt to play 38, 68 or 88 coins per spin, giving an equal number of pay lines to your bet. The graphics are the standard very basic Microgaming ones and naturally overlaid with cheesy Chinese style music with a predictable 'gong' when a scatter lands. The icons are all single, so no stacked standard symbols and the game is designed for mobile devices in a html5 format.

On the reels...

There are, unlike the other symbols, stacked Wilds on all reels which offer the game's highest pay for 5-of-a-kind at 525 coins. Usually I would be more informative and state 'x stake' but with varying levels it's quite an odd proposition! So if playing 38 lines that would be 13.8x stake, if playing the 68 coins option 7.7x stake and the full 88 coins would pay a shade under 6x stake! The dragons are next at 500 coins down to the lowest card value at 90 coins. There is also a Chinese wooden sail boat known as a 'Junk' but I shall refrain from any insinuations to the game - for now!

The bonus feature

Landing 3 Golden Bowl symbols anywhere in view triggers 8 free games. These have been taken straight from Microgaming's Secret Romance slot in that you get 'Rolling Reels' in which winning symbols are removed and more will descend from above to replace them. Likewise the Wilds will become 'super stacked' starting with 8 and growing by 1 each spin until you have stacks of 16 on the final spin, similar to Sofia's feature in their Playboy game. You cannot retrigger them but there is a potential, as in the base game, for a full screen of Wilds paying 525x stake for whichever amount you choose to bet of 38, 68 or 88 coins.

Our View...

Emperor of The Sea slot has pretty poor graphics for a Microgaming slot game. Which when you consider how far they are lagging behind those of other developers such as Yggdrasil and iSoftBet, that's pretty bad! The theme, no pun intended, is very jaded now and the slot is yet another mish-mash of Microgaming's other slots as mentioned above. The RTP is a decent 96.28% though and base game wins tend to average in excess of the stake so the math model is not too bad for the player. Volatility is of a medium level and it's quite odd that the base game and feature potential is identical in the full screen of Wilds. Try as I might, I cannot think of a single reason to sail my junk boat into this Emperor's waters...
