Jackpot Bells slot is Playtech's answer to various basic high-volatility games usually provided by Merkur such as Blazing Star or Novomatic, with their Power Stars slot. The game is simple with a plain red background and they've even emulated the two-tone sounds of those games with a slight variation of the trot-and-snick too. Despite the name there are certainly no bells and whistles here and we can only hope your bankroll won't go as fast as this review!

On the reels...

We get old-style fruit machine symbols, all stacked and only 5 pay lines over our 5 reels of 3 rows each. Red 7's pay 300x bet for a 5-of-a-kind and as all symbols are stacked that would be a considerable 1500x for a full screen. Melons pay 50x, Grapes 20x, Plums 12x, Oranges 10x, Lemons 8x and the lowly Cherries 6x but uniquely the Cherries do pay 0.4x bet for a 2-of-a-kind. You don't even get adjacent pays or right-to-left either - I said this would be quick!

Wild bells

There are single Bells on all reels that are expanding Wilds which land and expand with a dramatic 'ting'. No feature, no scatters and nothing else. OK, there is one important feature which you may have guessed by the title - if you land 5 Wild Bells you don't get a 5-of-a-kind award but win the game's progressive jackpot. And that's your game.

Our View...

Jackpot Bells slot isn't too bad regarding win frequency so it won't eat your balance as fast as Power Stars for example, but bare in mind that out of the 96.03% RTP that 2% is a jackpot contribution, which isn't great. Other than this you're just banging away on a pretty uninspiring slot with basic sounds and poor graphics and effects, although if you hit the progressive I'm sure you'd forgive that! As with any Playtech progressive game you must ALWAYS check the casino's terms in case they have the unfair clause about monthly pay-out limits also being applied to progressives (in spite of the casino getting all your money up front). It won't affect me personally, as this is one bell I will unlikely ring too often...
