Mega Dragon slot demonstrates that Red Tiger are liking the grid-cascade model at the moment which to be fair they do quite well. Play'n Go started this craze with Gemix and this eventually developed into Viking Runecraft while Red Tiger's efforts haven't been bad either with Tiki Fruits although Jack In A Pot was pretty lamentable in comparison. Here we are back to their favourite oriental subject matter with the grid sitting over a colourful Chinese temple and a brief whoosh of the local music when we play. We must now try and find out if these dragons will be the guardians or destroyers of our bankroll!
We have 8 reels of 7 rows apiece on Mega Dragon slot although the game is quite a simple one compared to many grid-based slots. All tiles are separate and cascade down from above with any winning ones removed and replaced in the same way. The tiles can appear stacked and singly and you don't get win lines but pays for 5 or more adjacent matching symbols. The top pays are for clusters of 25 or more and they are 888x Gold Bowl, 388x Tokens, 288x Pearl, 200x Scroll with five card values of 150x down to 60x. The minimum pays are for 5-8 in a cluster and these range from 1x Gold Bowls down to 0.1x for the lowest card value. You don't get scatters and Wilds, but Wilds may be created and these are what awaken those Dragons.
Any winning cluster of a picture tile and not the card values, will produce a single Dragon Wild tile when the winning symbols disappear. These Wilds remain on the grid even if forming another win next cascade. Now if you subsequently get another premium symbol win, another Wild is created and this is when the Dragons can awaken. When 2 Wilds end up adjacently one of 3 Dragons will cross the screen with a unique modifier.
Golden Dragon - turns random tiles Wild too.
Green Dragon - clones random tiles into the same high-pay symbol.
Red Dragon - chooses a random high-pay tile and turns it into a mega 2x2 tile.
When this gets going you are continually making fresh Wilds and as such can get many continuous Dragons, and you can get 2 or 3 on the same cascade if 2 or 3 fresh pairs or better of adjacent Wilds are formed.
Mega Dragon slot looks good and is pretty exciting to play if you get past all those dead or low-pay plays and start to get a procession of Dragons in play. When you do the sequence can propagate itself and go on for quite a while racking up some pretty good totals. The game also looks and sounds good with an RTP of 96.17% which is none too shabby either, so playing for an extended period isn't tiresome at all. In short, Mega Dragon will be a game I shall return to in future...
