Free Phoenix Fire Power Reels slot
Please be patient, some games take longer to load than others!
Phoenix Fire Power Reels by Red Tiger seems to have followed the same old formula that most recent slots from this developer have done. In other words, a huge grid with relatively few win lines and adjacent pays or cluster wins so we have a visual monstrosity totally out of proportion with the pays available. In this instance we have the large grid set over a leather inscribed panel with red feathers and suspense music while we spin and some noticeable crashes when the reels stop. It may be the inspiration here was Play'n Go's Phoenix Reborn as that game has a large reel set as does Quickspin's Phoenix Sun but we actually get only 5 more lines here than on Genesis Gaming's Phoenix and the Dragon with its far smaller grid. This mythical bird was supposed to have risen from the ashes, so let's hope those ashes aren't all that's left of our bankroll here!
On The Reels...
As I said above, the grid here is ridiculously large as we have 8 reels of 6 rows each and wait for it, only 30 pay lines. These are adjacent paying though so 3-of-a-kinds or better can be on any part of the pay line whichever the reels. Wilds are 50x bet for 8-of-a-kind as is the Vase, Book 30x, Ring 25x, Scroll 20x and four card suits all at 8x. Those values halve each time as we go down a symbol right down to 3OAK wins. You get a free spins scatter on all reels and a 2-row Phoenix Stacked Wild too, but in the base game only 1 stacked Wild can appear on any spin. It can have another function though.
As you may have seen, there are stacked Wing Feathers which can appear on all reels. These are completely useless and don't pay anything, just fill up the space this game wastes by having silly reels. If a Phoenix Wild lands and touches any one of them, all adjacent ones will turn Wild which can produce a fair win. Occasionally the big Phoenix may appear and turn all Winged symbols Wild, even those not touching the triggering Wild.
Three or more Jade free spin scatters will award 7 free games. You can get retriggers too but now you can get up to 3 Phoenix Stacked Wilds on any spin instead of just one. With more Winged stacks seeming to appear, there is scope for some large pays here with those extra Wilds to help activate them. Red Tiger's rules state 1941.5x is the highest stake multiplier achievable here, which isn't bad at all.
Despite the silly appearance of a game that uses a massive grid just for the sake of it, Phoenix Fire Power Reels slot is not too bad a game to experience. The dull colours change dramatically when those Wilds do their work and the Phoenix materialises and the sounds get better too. The RTP is a creditable 96.22% and some mid-range wins can come in during the base game but are far more likely in the free games which do have some potential although a few hundred times bet is your best realistic expectation. Yes, I like it overall but isn't it about time we had some traditional slots again from Red Tiger as surely this Phoenix has now turned this formula to ash once and for all...
