Raptor Doublemax slot by Yggdrasil is a very simple yet potentially exciting slot game. It seems to have gained its inspiration from Netent's old Big Bang slot and beefed the mechanic up a bit by adding free games. A Jurassic background, nice calming music to fit the theme and gladly not any cartoon-based artwork makes the pleasant scene for us here. There are elements from other games too such as Gonzo's Quest slot and even IGT's famous old Cleopatra 2 game with its guaranteed increasing multiplier bonus round. So can our bankroll be enraptured (sorry) by these creatures or will it be double pain?

Now you'll understand my comparison of Raptor Doublemax to other slots mentioned above. You have 25 pay lines over 5 reels of 3 rows each with individual tiles of which any winning ones disappear to be replaced by tumbles from above, each one in this case adding a Wild to grid which may or may not help. You get a doubling multiplier for each winning tumble so 1,2,4,8 and 16x and so-on. As a result symbol pays are modest with the 4 Dinosaurs paying 5x down to 2x for 5-of-a-kinds and the 4 card values 1.2 or 1x. Wilds are in the form of Gold Ammonite Fossils and can be created on any reel but as most wins are 3OAK usually within the first 3. Egg scatters can land on any reel and you can play 'Golden Bet' which increases your stake 25% in order to double the chance of feature triggers.

You will get 8,12 or 16 for 3,4 or 5 scatters respectively, no extra spins or retriggers. You can gamble from 8 to 12 on a pick-me 50-50 and if successful to 16 from 12 via the 50-50 - but you will lose all if you choose wrong! You can probably guess here that the doubling multiplier doesn't reset between winning spins so for example you could get to 1024x or even 2048x for collecting 11 or 12 wins in the round!! Raptor Doublemax slot has a 96.00% RTP and in testing I actually got the free games multiplier up to a staggering 16,384x after gambling 8 spins to 16 the maximum! I didn't hit a win on it as that was the last spin but still got over 3,200x for a relatively small win on the preceding 8192x due to the insane multipliers this is capable of. The base game won't get you over 16x very often but it's clearly geared up to pay big for 5-scatter triggers or gambling to 16 spins. So I can certainly say the excitement level of this slot is immense when it goes right for you and those Wilds are crated in winning line positions when it's high on multipliers. The sounds, graphics and animations are very good too. Yggdrasil have simply taken an old idea and raised it to a new and ridiculous level and I love it...
