PopNoir follows the story of a detective who must gather clues in order to find the Golden Idol Symbols during the bonus round. Before entering the bonus round, players activate the Reward Reels feature, which offers a different starting setup each time. This special feature provides various rewards, including Free Spins, Starting Ways, Starting Multiplier, and Multiplier increment, giving players a more advantageous starting point in the bonus round.

Pop Noir makes good use of the urban chic mystery theme with low pays but you do get expanding reels with successive wins plus both-way pays to compensate. The mini-bonus round when full expanding the game to 6-rows high is a good precursor to the main event which is harder to trigger but far more involving to watch. The modifiers awarded before the free games can be lucrative, especially the rate at which the multiplier rises and the minimum ways increasing. There is considerable high win potential during the bonus round.
