On the Reels...
You get a scrolling row of 4 symbols under the 6 reels on Spartacus Megaways slot but not the amount of ways you may be used to. Yes, the 324-ways is the minimum here, but the outer reels can display up to 10 symbols, the 4 middle reels 9. This means you can have up to 1 million ways in a spin! There are curtains covering the top positions of some or all reels on a random basis each spin, with each winning tumble raising one of the curtains by 1 row to reveal another symbol.
Symbols are stacked and single with winning tiles replaced from above, Colosseum scatters appear on all reels and Gladiator Wilds singly or sometimes stacked only on the middle 4 main reels. Your get an increasing multiplier for each winning action and the final enhancement is your Wilds expand too, even pushing back the curtain on the reel they land on. It's possible for one of the patterns on the initial wheel to have no curtains at all, which is the one you want. There is good potential here if you can get 8 or more spins, especially if you retrigger them.
Our View...
WMS slots have been mundane to mediocre in the last few years with low potential tedium being the mainstay of their output aside from Megaways games. Here we have a mechanic that works, is fun to watch and has a good base game as well as nice 96.32% RTP. So this is their best for a while and it's refreshing not to have something, or several things, to dislike about it. The bonus isn't easy to get but pays well usually and is quite exciting, with potential for well over 10,000x considering the large stakes of top symbols which can appear and the easy to obtain wins for higher multipliers. Good sounds, animations and graphics cap off a legendary effort here from WMS...
