Beetlejuice Megaways slot summary
Beetlejuice Megaways slot by Scientific Games/WMS is their latest use of the BTG Megaways mechanic. It's also the second film-themed one we've seen after StakeLogic's The Expendables Megaways slot and this time we have the cult classic 1988 comedy/horror film Beetlejuice as the subject. Scientific games have reproduced their two most popular online slots in Megaways format already, Raging Rhino Megaways and the more controversial Montezuma Megaways later. Here we have Beetlejuice himself leering at the player with the reels set over a dimly lit stone wall and music from the spookier scenes of the film as we play. So will our bankroll be crushed underfoot here or not?
On The Reels...
Beetlejuice Megaways slot looks slightly different to many Megaways games and we get the usual WMS or Bally low line pays as is usual of late. That is not much of a concern here though, with Beetlejuice at 5x bet for 5-of-a-kind, Female 2x, Green Skull 1.6x, Flower Girl 1.2x, monster 0.8x with five card values all at 0.4x for a full way of 5. So yes, we only get 5 reels here and each one can only display 2, 3 or 6 symbols but worry not - they double in height after any win, keeping the symbol amounts the win began with. This means you play with a minimum of 32 ways and after a win you could get 5 reels at 12-rows high, or 248,832 ways in action! As usual, winning symbols are removed to be replaced from above in their columns.
The Wild is single and can appear on all reels which is unusual for Megaways slots but it has no value of its own. Randomly, Ghost Mystery Symbols can appear on the reels but don't guarantee a win and finally your scatter is the Betelgeuse Logo which can appear on all reels too.
Free Games
You need 3 scatters for 8 free spins, 4 for 12 or all 5 for 16. Your retriggers for 3, 4 or 5 scatters are 4, 6 or 8 extra spins. It may sound disappointing only getting 8 free games on a slot that has the increasing multiplier format for them but you should cheer up a bit! Due to the fact the rows double in height after every win and subsequent actions on that free game take place on big reels, multiple wins are easy to land thus getting that all-important muliplier quite high, quite quickly. It's a decent and exciting mechanic to be fair to SG.
Our View...
Beetlejuice Megaways slot does the film theme really well here with average graphics but great animations and soundtrack to accompany them. The RTP is 96.00% which fine for the Megaways series of slots and the expanding reels on each win are a really good variant too. The base game is quite kind on the bankroll and huge wins are possible in the feature although the volatility of it is nothing like as high as on many Megaways slots. You seldom see a really ridiculous sub-20x result to your free games which occur slightly more frequently than on the most volatile games. You don't need to be scared of Beetlejuice at all...
