The Expendables Megaways slot review

the expendables megaways slot gameThe Expendables Megaways slot by StakeLogic brings us a film theme from our all-action hero Sylvester Stallone, released in 2010. You will hear the dramatic music from the film score in the background and explosions when symbols land in wins and are removed although there is less of the movie than you'd expect in the background to the reels. There aren't many licensed themes amongst the over 60 Megaways titles already released as I type, the first two were Who Wants to be a Millionaire? from BTG and around that time we saw the release of Battleship Direct Hit from WMS/SG then we have since had Blueprint's Deal or no Deal and returning to the subject of board games, BTG's Monopoly Megaways. So will these mercenaries here decide our bankroll is expendable too?

On The Reels...

A scrolling reel above the centre 4 columns tells us we have the standard 324 to 117,649-way Megaways format here on The Expendables Megaways slot. Columns can display 2 to 7 symbols which may appear stacked too and winning tiles are removed with more cascading from above to replace them. The pays aren't as high as for say Bonanza slot and there's a reason for this which we'll discover later. Stallone is 12.5x bet for 6-of-a-kind, Soldier 7.5x, Chinese Soldier 1.75x, Dolph Lundgren 1.5x and Black Hat Soldier 1x with four card values paying 15 down to 10-coins for our 20-coin bet. Dog Tag Wilds can appear singly on reels 2-6 and Skull scatters on all of them. There is one special symbol though!

Bullet Bonus

Every now and again Bullet symbols may appear on the grid. You'll see an empty revolver cylinder on the top right and each time a Bullet appears you fill up one chamber. When all 5 chambers are filled, you get 5 single Wilds fired into random positions on reels 2-6.

Free Games

4 scatters will award 10 free games with 5 extra for 3 appearing in the bonus or 10 for 4. You don't get the Bullet Bonus but there is a better modifier here hence the lower line pays. There is an increasing multiplier for each winning action as you'll no doubt be used to but the main event is a symbol elimination. Starting with 10's any win of the lower card values removes that symbol from the reels. You must do this in order so it's not possible to eliminate say the Kings before the 10's. StakeLogic tell us the best win recorded in testing is 26,965x bet!

Our View...

The Expendables Megaways slot is volatile and perhaps more reliant on the free games for big wins than the base game, which means the Bullet Bonus is essential to help maintain your balance. The RTP is available in two settings, 94.02% or 96.02% so check the help files at the casino you play it at! The sounds and symbols are good and as one may expect from a licensed game, the animations are very good so it makes for an entertaining session if you like the theme. As usual it can take a while to trigger the free games and they can be feat or famine in terms of returns which is usually the case with this mechanic. I may well be tempted to take on the hostiles again with my money...
