Castle of Terror slot summary
Castle of Terror slot by Big Time Gaming will appear to some as a blend of Wild Flower with hints of Microgaming's classic Immortal Romance. We get a Gothic theme here with a background of the derelict grounds of an isolated house in autumn, in keeping with the Halloween timing of the release. As we will discover when we get past the great haunting soundtrack of the game, it has an element of another of their 4096-way games in it, in this case The Final Countdown. As said Castle of Terror is another of BTG's superb 4096-way series so we get 6 reels of 4 rows each and single or stacked symbols. The Lady pays 50x as the best 6-of-a-kind with a sharp drop to Gentleman at 1x, Housekeeper and Gardener at 0.6x with six card values of 0.5 down to 0.3x. Castle scatters appear on all six reels with a Gold Castle Megascatter on reel 6. There are no Wilds naturally occurring, for these you require the random Holy Water feature which occurs on the middle 4x4 symbols and at least 2 positions then get wet. If any of the four character symbols land within those 2+ positions they turn into Wilds as well as awarding a 1x multiplier for each one which adds together before wins are paid on that game. This means just one landing in a wet square makes the multiplier 2x for the round.
Castle of Terror Free Games
You need 3 Castle scatters anywhere for 12 free games and are awarded +3 for any over those 3 when triggering the Castle of Terror bonus. During the free games the Holy Water feature is active every spin and any multipliers added don't reset between spins, but only increase. If you trigger the free games by including the Golden Castle Megascatter on reel 6, the round is the same but the Holy Water multiplier increases by 2x for every Wild created. You won't see scatters in the free games but if you reach 20x 6 extra spins are awarded and again for every 20x increase in multiplier thereafter. This mechanic comes from Opal Fruits slot by the way. Some jurisdictions may allow bonus buys for the features at 70 and 200x bet respectively.
Gamble Wheel
BTG's gamble wheel appears here on Castle of Terror whereby wins of 25-100x bet can be gambled on a proportionate segmented wheel and wins of 100x or more let you bank the excess and exchange 100 for the feature. Castle of Terror slot has a great theme and music and sound effects, although not in the same class as the incomparable Immortal Romance - they don't make 'em like that anymore! The base game produces the odd big win via the Holy Water but the free games aren't hard to land, although the Megascatter trigger is. Getting the 6 extra spins is rare on the normal trigger and the 67,000x plus potential would be exclusively held in the latter. Your RTP is good at 96.72% and 97.73% if using bonus buys where allowed. Overall all an enjoyable game and good addition to their 4096-way slots but it's volatile so Halloween horror could indeed befall your bankroll here...
