Monkey Money slot review
The "progressive jackpots 'n' fruit" fun of Microgaming's Big Kahuna slot and the progressive millionaire maker Mega Moolah, from the same developer, proved there were legs in the theme. It's a shame, then, that Betsoft Gaming's offering, Monkey Money, is such a damp squib.
9 Paylines and a $25,000 Jackpot
A 5-reel, 9-payline slot, Monkey Money has betting starting at just $0.02, but the maximum jackpot is $25,000 when betting at the top end of the coin spectrum, so there's definitely scope for big wins.
In terms of graphics it's old-school fruit fun all the way: oranges, watermelons, cherries, grapes, lucky 7s, palm trees, gold coins and bananas all fill the reels, as well as the monkey himself.
Pick Coconuts to Reveal Prizes in the Monkey Money Bonus
As for bonuses, Betsoft have kept it pretty simple. The feature symbol is the coconut, and it triggers the Monkey Money's bonus game when you accumulate three coconuts on the reels.
You'll be taken off to the a bonus screen where you'll have to choose from eight coconuts hanging from palm trees. Our monkey friend will shin his way up the tree to crack open the nut, revealing a prize. Keep picking coconuts until the monkey picks a rotten one and your turn ends.
That's about it for bonuses - the coconut bonus game does come round quite often and I found it pretty lucrative; not staggeringly exciting but regular enough to reward decent payouts. Other than that, if you want some earnest down-to-earth slots fun, Monkey Money deserves an 'OK'.
The graphics are nothing special, and the 3D animation team at Betsoft obviously had the week off when they were busy developing this one.
Personally, I'll stick with the progressive fruity fun I highlighted at the top of my review.
