Dragon Born slot is the first of a 3-game series of trademarked 'Megaways' games from Australian developer Big Time Gaming, preceding Queen of Riches and the highly volatile Bonanza slot. These games have 6 dynamic reels which can separately have 2 to 7 rows and thus symbols appearing on each. This means on any spin you have a minimum of 64 and a maximum of 117,649 ways to win with any permutation in between! With stacked symbols on the reels that can fill in some cases all 7 rows on a reel, you can imagine the possibilities of this game themed around a Dragon. So is this game Dragon Born or Dragon Bore?
On the reels of Dragon Born...
The graphics are quite basic with the reels set in a gold ornamental surround, which aside from the Red Dragon is the only hint of anything Oriental. The reels spin with a gentle tune and a satisfying 'snick' when they land and a nice thud if you see a Diamond scatter. The top of the game calculates the ways possible as each reel stops too. We can begin with the Jester stacked Wild on reels 2 to 6, but it can only land on 1 or 2 reels on any given spin. This isn't bad news though, as they get a random multiplier from 1 to 7x overlaid on them which is cumulative thus it is possible to receive up to 49x!
The icons begin with the Dragon which can appear in small stacks and pays a 50x bet for a 6-of-a-kind win, followed by the red, blue, and green gems which offer 5, 4, and 3x respectively for the 6. The remaining icons are card values from A down to 9 paying 2.5 down to 0.8x bet for a full way of 6. There is a nice touch when a big win is going to drop in - after reel 3 stops you get a loud heartbeat and the remaining reels slow while you watch them bring the win in. Naturally, the biggest wins tend to come with the more rows that appear on each reel and all reels also contain a Diamond on a purple background. 3 or more of these trigger a nice free games bonus.

After landing 3 Diamonds you will be awarded with 6 free games, or 12, 25, or 50 for 4, 5, or 6 Diamonds. They can retrigger and any single diamond will add one extra spin. During these spins Wilds are now added to the reels in single, double, or triple stacks and the games are played on the full 6 x 7 grid of the maximum 117,649 ways. It's difficult to state the maximum win possible, but it certainly is more than 10,000 x bet judging by the best reel positions all falling at once within the full amount of ways.

Dragon Born slot was a unique innovation with its varying rows on each spin and a huge amount of ways, meaning huge potential both in the base game and free games. For this alone Big Time Gaming deserves credit, and the graphics and sounds are very distinctive too. This is one you won't see copied by other developers! The RTP is a mid-range 95% and naturally, it's quite volatile when you don't get those slow spins indicating a big win is imminent you will notice it on your balance! The free games though are a real adrenaline rush and compared to its brother Bonanza they are triggered frequently. This certainly isn't a Dragon that will bore you...
