Fishin Frenzy Megaways slot review
Fishin' Frenzy Megaways slot is via Blueprint Gaming but like Napoleon Rise of an Empire was actually developed by Australian outfit Reel Time. It's not the first time the popular pastime of angling has featured on slots, with Microgaming's Alaskan Fishing and Fish Party along with Netent's Fishy Fortune to name a few. Here the slot is very basic looking with a plain blue sea background with no sound effects at all bar the old style spinning and stopping noises it has. Can this latest manifestation of the Megaways mechanic land a big catch for our bankroll or will it be the one that got away?
On The Reels...
We have 6 reels varying between 2 and 5 rows each randomly per spin therefore Fishin' Frenzy Megaways can offer 64 to 15,625 ways per spin. There are no Wilds and no replacement symbols for winning ones or any mystery stacks. In fact there's not a lot aside from a feature which we will shortly discuss. The 6-of-kind pays are very high for a Megaways slot so win frequency is lower than you would have seen on games like Bonanza and Diamond Mine. The Heron pays 200x bet, Line Reel 100x, Bait Box or Life Ring 50x, Fish 10x with five card values of either 5x or 2.5x for a full way of 6. The symbols aren't stacked though with the exception of the Fish which will become important shortly. Boat scatters appear on all 6 reels too.
Fishin' Free Spins
So you will get 10 free games for 3 Boat scatters in view, 15 for 4, 25 for 5 and 50 for all 6. No extra spins or retriggers either. Now the Fish symbols you see in the base game you may have noticed have cash values on them from 2 to 50x bet. These are greyed out in the base game and the Fish are just normal icons. Here in the bonus though, those cash awards become live and in you see a Fisherman scatter anywhere in view on any spin, all those Fish awards will be paid wherever they appear on the grid. The Fisherman scatter also doubles up as a Wild during this bonus. That's all this very basic Megaways game has to offer.
Fishin' Frenzy Megaways is the simplest game of this mechanic to date. You have a feature buy for 100x bet too but given the fact it seldom pays 100x for the basic 10 free games I would think very carefully about using it. The free games are easier to trigger than on most of the more volatile Megaways slots but the format and enhancement is pretty boring to say the least. The appearance and sounds are plain dull as they were on the original Reel Time slot and no effort has been made at improvements. It's also very hard to get decent free game totals. Sorry, I am not in a frenzy to go fishing here any time soon...Review by Gamingslots
