Astro Cat Deluxe slot summary
Astro Cat Deluxe slot by Lightning Box/Incredible Technologies is their third Reelfecta effort after Druidess Gold and the original Astro Cat game. This means a very colourful and good-looking game with a very strange reel pattern as we'll see shortly. The theme is what I would term 'soft oriental' in other words you have Chinese symbols but with a modern take on both their appearance and the typical music this theme often includes. You won't get the lady slotters as attracted to this game as they may be by IGT's feline favourite Kitty Glitter, but will our bankroll end up like the cat that's got the cream?
On The Reels...
Now I did mention above that Astro Cat Deluxe uses the patented Reelfecta system. If you've not see this then it's essentially 1296 ways to win on a grid with 3 rows on reels 1,2,4 and 5 and a giant 4x4 third reel consisting of 16 individual tiles. Each tile can only count once per different winning way and it's here you'll also see the slot's Astro Cat Wilds and Wheel scatters too. Pays on way-slots aren't usually huge and it's no different here with the Dragon paying 250 coins, Frog 150, Carp 100, Fan or Tree 75 and five card values of either 40 or 25 in relation to our 50-coin bet. There are no modifiers but Lightning Box have made significant alterations to the original Astro Cats bonus round.
Bonus Wheel
If you see 5 or more scatter Wheel tiles in the middle 4x4 reel then you will go to a bonus Wheel. This will usually award cash values of 2.4 to 24x bet which will then incur a second spin awarding a multiplier or a respin for more cash. You could be really lucky and win one of the 4 fixed jackpot prizes of 10, 100, 2,000 or 20,000x bet but you'll likely see the third and final option before you hit one of those larger pots. This will be free spins, which are the same as those on the original Astro Cats or Druidess Gold.
Free Spins
You will start free games with a Wild fixed in the top left of the 12 outside tiles of the 4x4 third reel. On the next spin another Wild will appear next to that in a clockwise pattern. You will get at least 3 free spins as the killer Poison tile cannot appear in those first 3 spins. What you really need to do is successfully fill al 12 outside tiles on reel 3 with Wilds, as not only do you get the maximum 12 spins but get one final Megaspin in which Astra Cat appears to fill the middle 4 positions to for one final free game with all 16 postions Wild. Now you'll be aware that this won't help if it stitches you up by not matching anything on reels 1 and 2, which it can!
Our View...
You cannot fault the inventiveness and colourful appearance of Astro Cat Deluxe but after all it's just a rehash of an exisiting older formula which has had two additional possibilities thrown in, resulting in a bonus wheel rather than just free games. This is welcome if you get a decent jackpot award, but there's little worse on slots than waiting for a free games feature only to be fobbed off with some pathetic cash award instead. The RTP is not too high at only 95.46% but there is an outside chance of 2 or 20,000x bet or some decent free games totals. You'll get plenty of play time for your dollar here but Astro Cat tends to dislike sharing his cream too much...
