Astro Cat slot summary
Astro Cat slot would never indicate it's an oriental-themed game by reading the title, but have no doubt we are in China here with a slot that's a sister game to another 'Reelfecta' one, Druidess Gold. The game is set over a scenic Chinese lake with junks and smaller boats afloat under a night sky and of course it wouldn't be complete without the wheedling Eastern pipe and cymbals music while we play. If you aren't familiar with 'Reelfecta' slots these have asymmetric reels that have different amounts or rows on, like WMS' Bruce Lee for example so will Astro Cat be a case of hiss and scratch or purr-fect for our balance?
On the reels...
The Reelfecta means we get reels 1, 2, 4 and 5 with three rows on each and the centre reel has sixteen symbols in 4x4 grid so 3x3x16x3x3 gives us a 1296-way game. So if you get a similar symbol on the the two outer pairs of reels, you only need it to appear once in the 4x4 block reel to get a 5-of-a-kind win. The best one of these cannot be Wilds as they only appear anywhere on the 4x4 reel and reel 4, but the Dragon pays 5x our 50-coin stake, the Frog 3x, Fish 2x, Lotus Flowers or Fan 1.5x with five card values either paying 40 or 25 coins. Symbols can appear singly or in pairs too.
Reelfecta free games
If you get to see 5 or more Firework symbols anywhere in the 12 positions on the edge of the Reelfecta 4x4 grid you'll trigger a unique bonus spins round. Nine or more in these 12 positions will alos award the top possible pay of 500x stake. A minimum of three free games are granted and you will see Astro Cat Wild only land in the top left of the outer 12 positions going clockwise. Each time it appears it becomes a Sticky Wild but beware! from the fourth spin onwards a Poison Flask my appear instead and that ends the games.
The objective is to fill all 12 positions with Astro Cat Wilds as not only does that keep the free games with an ever-increasing amount of sticky Wilds going, but you get a special bonus if you do last 12 spins without seeing the Poison! If you make the 13th. and final spin the whole 4x4 Reelfecta will become a sticky Wild for one last Mega Spin and then you just hope you get a match on reels 1 and 2 for it, but to be fair it usually does pay something decent.
Our View...
Astro cat slot has a unique design with very good graphics, effects and animations and the 96.15% RTP is none too shabby either. Yes, it's the second identical game from Lightning Box to accompany Druidess Gold and the pays aren't huge for this lower volatility game but it is fun to play and often puts decent strings of wins together. The slot isn't brutal on your bankroll at all and after a session on it you may well look like the Astro Cat that got the cream...
