Legends of The Seas slot summary
Legends of The Seas slot doesn't inspire much confidence that it will be anything but a generic game from Novomatic when one first opens it up, but I was pleasantly surprised upon reading the pay tables and seeing the features in action! First appearances reveal the pretty common Romano-Greek Gods theme used on numerous other slots by various developers, such as Playtech's Age Of The Gods series and WMS with Zeus in its various forms. We see a statue of Neptune on the left and as expected blue reels over a seascape but for once we get some alternative classical music added to the usual Novomatic 'trotting' noises as the reels stop which makes a pleasant change. So can Neptune here whip up a storm for our bankroll or will we see it disappear beneath the waves for ever more?
On the reels...
Typically when seeing 5 reels of 4 rows each and 40 paying lines with stacked symbols on the reels I assume the game will have very poor line pays and low volatility, but Legends of The Sea isn't too bad on that score. Despite the 40 lines you can actually play with only 20 coins and even the lower symbols for a mere 3-of-a-kind cannot pay less than a quarter of your bet and of course due to stacked icons they are likely to appear on more than one line.
Neptune or the Mermaid will pay 10x bet for 5-of-a-kind as will the single Wilds which appear on all reels. Dolphins, Turtle and Seahorse pay 3x and then there's the four atypical card values all paying 2x so fairly simple so far, but Neptune has a surprise in store for you! The statue of Neptune on the left randomly comes alive on any spin and with a wave engulfing the reels he can award a block of 4 to 9 adjacent symbols anywhere on the grid which are usually on any reels bar the first, so you may or may not spin in a match.
Free games
Neptune and the Mermaid only appear stacked 3-high on reels 2 and 4 respectively. Should both appear fully in view you will be awarded 10 free games and this is where the fun begins. Neptune will activate on every spin and as well as the block symbols he can add as described above, he may also make any amount of reels 1, 2, 4 and 5 Wild. He still isn't finished as now on reel 3 you will see a 3-high stack of Neptune and Mermaid combined which not only awards 2 extra spins but acts as a Wild too. Finally, a random multiplier of 2 to 10x may appear at any time and this displayed at the top of the grid and may last for just one spin or several until it disappears. Oh yeah, did I mention that you can also retrigger the bonus? Nice one Novomatic!
Our View...
Legends of The Seas slot may only have basic graphics and sound effects in line with Novo's simple format they tend to use, but the game is actually quite good to play with regular interruptions from Neptune with his blocks of symbols and a we get a significantly higher RTP here at 96.09%, higher than their usual of around 95%. The base game potential isn't enormous at under 400x bet but you are far more likely to see those 3-figure hits in the bonus due to the Neptune Wild reels and then we can have up to a 10x multiplier in play too. So now we do have some serious potential and we all know how Novo tend to weight their wins into free spins rounds, which in this instance Neptune makes very entertaining! With that in mind, I'll certainly be back here to try and make some waves of my own...
