Free Magic Journey slot
Please be patient, some games take longer to load than others!
Magic Journey slot by Pragmatic Play gives us one of those oriental themes with the mythical monkey on his travels, usually westwards. This we saw with Genesis Gaming's Journey to the West although you're more likely to have played Pragmatic's other game with a similar theme, Monkey Warrior or perhaps gone downmarket with Netent's Legend of Shangri-La. This game will be very different to what you are used to though despite the familiar gentle oriental music in the background and reels set over a Chinese pagoda. So will this journey be the road to hell for our bankroll or will there be magic along the way?
Well this is where Magic Journey slot is very distinct. You have 9 different symbols and 5 reels of only 1 row each. There is no Wild, nor scatter and no of-a-kind pays here! Above the main reel you will se a 3x3 grid with 9 different characters in fixed positions. There are 8 fixed lines on this grid and you simply spin the 5 single reels and if you make a line it sticks in place on the top grid and you play again, and any further symbols will go into the grid. If any more lines are filled in you get the grid freeze and so-on.
There is the Golden Monkey in the middle of the grid and if he appears on the lower reels you will get a respin regardless of if the spin resulted in any of the 8 lines being filled or not. You get simple fixed pays of 2x bet for one line fiulled, 5x for 2, 10x for 3, 15x for 4, 30x for 5, 100x for 6 and the top pay of 400x bet for filling the grid and all 8 lines. (You cannot get 7 lines.) That's all there is to it.
Magic Journey slot is actually volatile according to Pragmatic Play despite the top prize being only 400x bet. You get a good 96.54% RTP and the colours are bright, sounds dramatic and animations very eye-catching. This doesn't deflect me from the fact that there's many dead spins, it's frustrating always missing the symbol you need to get anything over 4 lines and a 15x bet win too. So, despite the developer's imagination, I would call the journey to balance reduction anything but magic here...
