The Dog House Megaways slot review
The Dog House Megaways slot by Pragmatic Play is based on a standard slot of the same name and is as juvenile as all the worst pet-themed slots ever made. It's as bad as the awful Pets slot from Pariplay and WMS' dire duo of the OMG! Kittens slot and equally daft OMG! Puppies slot, although those two at least used real images and not cartoons. He we get a green background, silly music interspersed with inane cartoon soundbites from the various dogs to set us on our way. So will this game be delight or distemper for our bankroll?
On The Reels...
There are 6 reels of 2-7 rows each hence 64-117649 ways possible from any spin on The Dog House Megaways slot. The 6-of-a-kind pays are 7.5x for the gormless-looking Rottweiler, 3x for the Shih Tzu with the ribbons, 2x for the Pug with eyes like it has been imbibing illegal substances, 1.5x for the simpering Spaniel, Collar or Bone with 5 card values paying either 1 or 0.5x for a full way. Symbols aren't replaced from above when used in any wins, scatters are Gold Paw Prints and can appear on all reels and finally the Wild is in the form of a Kennel and can randomly display a 2x or 3x multiplier. These only appear on the centre 4 reels and are additive if 2 or more appear.
Free Games
You must land 3 or more Paw Print scatters to trigger a choice of two features or you can buy for 100x bet in some markets. Neither give retriggers or extra spins.
Sticky Wild Spins - you get 7,12 or 15 for 3,4 or 5 scatters respectively. The Wilds landing on the centre 4 reels will become sticky and of course you can get 2x and 3 ones. You can get from 2 to 7 each reel, as the rows aren't frozen when the first sticky Wilds lands. Should you get a 6-scatter trigger, you get 20 spins and presumably and can get 3-7 on each reel. The reels are guaranteed to be at minimum the same amount of rows as there is sticky Wilds on them. The reels are different from the base game ones, seem lower in rows on average!
Raining Wilds Spins - you get 15,18,25 or 30 spins for 3-6 scatters respectively. Each spin you get 0-6 randomly placed Wilds appear over the middle 4 reels. They too can be 2 or 3x.
Our View...
I would like to say the game mechanic makes up somewhat for the inane appearance and soundtrack of the game, but I cannot. True, you get a good 96.55% RTP and there is potential there, but the base game is not good for keeping you afloat, so you tend to get features more frequently than maybe on other Megaways slots. This is no comfort though, as the volatile Sticky Wilds option seldom pays over 100x, when you do get a nice selection of Wilds stuck on say reels 2,3 and 4 with multipliers the rows and thus ways per spin seem to miraculously reduce because you are guaranteed 4OAK wins for the remaining spins. You'll find then that you'll not often see 5 or 6OAK wins in that situation, it's really frustrating and pre-decided by the look of things. The Raining Wilds is lower in volatility and simply boring to watch and pays little 99% of the time with many dead or no-Wild spins. I'm not going near this canine crud ever again...
