Before writing this review, I knew nothing about this DJ, other than his name sounded a bit like a product for treating erectile dysfunction - it’s nothing to do with that by the way. However, I have learned that this music producer and DJ is one of the top performers in the world, having been voted the ‘world’s best DJ’ in 2013 and 2014 by DJ Mag. So can this box-office DJ prove to be uplifting for our bankroll or will we ultimately be left on a big come down?
The slot is a standard 5 reel, 3 row, 25 fixed payline title. Top paying picture symbol is DJ Hardwell himself, paying 20x for 5-of-a-kind (5OAK). The speakers, turn-table and headphones will pay between 12-8x for a 5OAK. The smaller paying symbols are the neon fruit, with water melons, plus, oranges, lemons and cherries all appearing. The Wilds in this slot are only found on reel 2 and 4 and can replace all symbols except the bonus scatters.
This random base game feature will lock standard symbols in place whilst the reels re-spin. The re-spins will keep going until no more matching symbols appear. Hardwell slot looks to be something aimed at a very selective audience and that is definitely not me. From its monotonous electronic backing track anthem to the low volatility gameplay, it offers a casual gaming experience that you might try out of pure intrigue. This theme didn't really work for me when I gave Elk Studios' DJ Wild or Playtech's Wild Beats a go and it hasn't been improved with this effort. I would say of all the features in the game, the Super Spins is the stand out one, but it is still rare that it will pay you big. The RTP on this slot is 96.04%, which is good, but wins are likely to be frequent and small. Personally this high-octane electronic dance music fest of this slot looks destined to be left in the record bag (assuming they still exist).
