Knight's Keep slot is made in the classic WMS tradition, with familiar sounds and a very distinctive appearance. If you've ever played other Williams Interactive games in this format, most notably Red Flag Fleet and Zeus 3, then you will know exactly what I mean. The odd reel configuration is set against a night time landscape with a castle in the background where presumably our Knight hails from and where the riches reflected on the reels are stored. Other than that we have the standard unfussy WMS graphics and effects but I'm not sure I feel comfortable with the word 'keep' in the title, especially when it's my bankroll that can be 'kept'!
Yes, we have that funny 192-line WMS configuration will 2-3-4-5-6-7 rows on the 6 reels with stacked icons and low line pays. The Wilds are single and these are in the form of the Black Knight who you may have seen before in WMS' Black Knight and Black Knight 2 games. These are the top 6-of-a-kind pay at 10x our 40-coin stake followed by the King at 300, Queen at 250, Jester at 200, Crown at 150 and Sceptre at 100. Four card suits award 80, 70, 60 and 50 coins and we have Golden Horse scatters on all reels but the first. Each spin you'll see one symbol spinning on the reels 'super stacked' too.
So we need to land 3 or more scatters for free games of which we are awarded 5 for 3, 12 for 4 and 25 for all 5. The first thing you'll notice now is that the reels are reversed so now the first reel is 7 rows-high down to 2 rows for the sixth reel. You can get retriggers too but the best enhancement is that either 3 or 4 reels will change to consist of only one symbol aside from Wilds on a random basis each spin. This is a slight change to having stacked Wilds on Red Flag Fleet and Zeus 3 but nevertheless makes some big wins possible with 1440x bet possible for a full screen of Kings.
Sometimes simple is best and in this case with Knight's Keep we essentially get a slight variation on the workings of the other WMS 192-line games mentioned earlier. The line pays are low but tend to mount up due to the stacks in play here and decent wins occur in the base game too. In the free games the 3 or 4 reels of the same symbol firstly tend to be low-value icons and secondly seldom initiate on the first 3 or 4 reels to guarantee a win. That said, when it does come in for you, wins of hundreds times stake do occur. The 3 or 4 reels identical enhancement means the chance of retriggers for 3 scatters are seriously curtailed too but Knight's Keep gives us a decent 96.03% RTP for our money. Whether you tell WMS to keep this knight or not is another matter...
