It's a retro-themed game with a blue background radiating stars behind the reels and TV game show music and soundbites. It's far more basic looking than Microgaming's Attack on Retro or their older classic Retro Reels: Extreme Heat. On The Reels...
We get 5 reels of 4 rows apiece but only 20 fixed pay lines on All Star Knockout slot. Symbols can appear stacked and the pays are poor. There aren't any Wilds and the 5-of-a-kind pays are game Logo 5x, Red 7 4x, White 7 3x, Blue 7 2x, Cherry or Orange 1.5x and Plum or Lemon 1x. There are Star scatters which can appear anywhere but don't work as you might expect. Free Spins
Underneath you'll see the 8 standard symbols with 5 Star blanks to their left. Each time a Star appears it will find a random position under the grid. When you fill all 5 Stars up by a symbol, you begin 5 free games with that symbol removed from the reels. You tend to get far more Stars in the free games and each time you get 5 filled in by another symbol, you get 2 extra spins and knock that symbol out from the reels too. You also get a random 2,3,4 or 5x multiplier chosen before the free games begin. Afterwards, the Stars which completed any symbol including the triggering one, are removed.
Our View...
All Star Knockout slot sounds fun and quite clever but in all reality it's lots of noise, colour and shouting with very limited win potential. You get a reasonable 96.09% RTP and it's not too tiring to play despite the corny look and even the base game keeps you ticking over well enough. The issue is the terrible bonus feature where you'll do well to ever exceed 50x bet. So once you've lost more than that amount in your session, you are unlikely to get back ahead, in other words you have egg-timer variance here. This is well below the standard of slots that Yggdrasil usually put their name to, I'd call it 'One Star Knockout'...
