Free Attack on Retro slot
Please be patient, some games take longer to load than others!
Attack on Retro slot by Microgaming via Triple Edge Studios takes us back to the 1980's with big hair, ghetto blasters and extravagant dress with a bit of futuristic artwork thrown in. The translucent reels lie over a pastel Cityscape with synthesized sounds and naff soundbites when we win, the like of which we haven't heard since Netent's terrible Wild Water game. Netent actually did make The Super Eighties slot, probably as near to this as you'll see and Microgaming created the awful Crazy 80's slot which was as forgettable as shoulder pads and mullet haircuts. So will this piece of retro also attack our bankroll?
On The Reels...
We get 10 fixed pay lines over 5 reels of 3 rows each with single and stacked symbols including the Jesse and Billy Wilds. These are the top 5-of-a-kind pays at 100x bet, then Mixed they pay 50x, Skateboard 20x, Keyboard 12x, Ghetto Blaster 8x, Robot Glove 6x with four card values paying 3 down to 2x for a full line. You get free spin scatters on the centre 4 reels. The game has the Hyperspin system where you can choose to spin just a single reel for the price offered below it, something which I do not like and never have as it tempts players to pay a big multiple times bet to say spin over and over for the third scatter.
To be fair there are some good visuals on Attack on Retro slot and you'll have noticed a Steel Crab either side of the grid moving up and down occasionally. Randomly the reels turn red and Targets will appear on most positions. Any of these Targets the Steel Crabs zap will turn Wild for that spin and you can get up to 15.
Landing the scatters on the centre 3 reels earns you free games with a guaranteed stacked Billy or Jesse Wild on the end reels - it can be both of one or one of each. You choose 2 free spins at 5x multiplier, 5 at 2x or 10 at 1x. If you land 2 scatters you get 5 extra spins, all 3 you get 10 regardless of the option chosen. If you are lucky the Steel Crabs will activate to give you a better chance of a Wild Line.
I shouldn't really like this game but I do because the colours, animations and action are presented quite superbly. Like all Microgaming releases of the last 2 to 3 years, there is very little potential although 1000x is possible. The RTP is 95.58% or 96.08% if exclusively using the Hyperspin buys and you can get some reasonable hits in the base game although the free games are where it's at here in reality. I don't often say this about Microgaming slots nowadays, but I may take another step back in time for this one...
