Free A Dark Matter slot
Please be patient, some games take longer to load than others!
A Dark Matter slot from Microgaming is by in-house developer Slingshot Studios and certainly appears very Gothic. The reels sit over a night time scene of a foggy tree-lined drive leading to a creepy mansion which you will see in more detail during the bonus. It would be hard to equal the classic and superb Immortal Romance which this theme appears to mimic, albeit with old shrivelled characters as opposed to young and good-looking ones. It's more of a Wicked Tales Dark Red or in my view Alaxie in Zombieland. So can we add some shiny matter to our bankroll, or will it be lost to eternal darkness?
I think that A Dark Matter slot is the first 5-liner we've seen from Microgaming and that means volatile with high line pays, surely? Indeed it does and the single symbols pay 600x bet for the Lord of the Manor, Matriarch 160x, Policeman 120x, Maid 80x and Gamekeeper 60 with five card values paying 16 down to 10x for a ful line. The game pays both ways too and we get Doorknocker scatters plus Logo Wilds on the centre 3 reels, which can appear stacked on 2 and 4. No random modifiers here but a fully-stacked Wild appearing on 2 or 4 will fill an adjacent reel with Wilds too, if both appear reel 3 turns Wild.
So having landed 3 Doorknocker scatters on the middle reel, you get 12 free games with 1 extra spin per scatter appearing in them. If you get reels 2 and 4 Wild this time, as well as getting reel 3 Wild the wins will pay at 2x. The stacked Wilds on reels 2 and 4 are also now super-stacked. If you are going to hit those big 5-of-a-kind pays, it's more likely in the bonus.
A Dark Matter slot has had the Gothic theme done very well with an atmospheric appearance and great music and sound effects to complete the scene. Due to the volatile nature of the game it's hard getting those big 5OAK wins but with a 600x top pay that's only to be expected. Your base game wins essentially consist of getting the Wild reels for medium pays as you'll rarely see those big wins without them. I still can't help thinking this is what the Immortal Romance characters have become with ageing, but there may be some light in this darkness after all...
