Untamed Wilds slot by Yggdrasil Gaming delivers us a nature theme quite well here, in a similar style to Play'n Go's Wild North and not quite as aggressively as Netent's Jungle Spirit with the species being a little gentler in this case. The title does evoke thoughts of Microgaming's Untamed Series, with Untamed Giant Panda being the most popular but I can assure you this slot is quite different. The reels lie over a forest background surrounded by twists of wood and we hear some powerful classical music and animal noises while playing. Will our bankroll ultimately be tamed by these wild animals, or will we reap the fruits of the forest?
On The Reels...
20 paying lines over 5 reels of 3 rows each is our starting point on this Untamed Wilds slot adventure. The 5-of-a-kind pays are best for the Wolf at 30x bet, then 15x Boar, 12x Fox, 9x Owl, 6x Squirrel with four card suits paying 2x each for a full line. Northern Lights scatters appear on all reels but the Wilds are different depending on which mode you choose to play in.
Wild Modes
You choose a mode before you begin and this can change randomly after at least 10 spins. The modes give different types of Wild modifiers:
Bear Wild - expands into a cross pattern of 5 Wilds when appearing by growing up, down and left and right adjacently.
Moose Wild - a random multiplier here depending on how many land. A single is 2 to 5x, and add one to those values for each extra Wild appearing right up to all 5 which would multiply 7 to 10x.
Wolf Wild - each one replicates to another position to give the best possible win, like in Netent's Wonky Wabbits base game.
Free Games
You will get 7,15 or 30 spins for 3,4 or 5 scatters respectively. You can retrigger them too and as you may have already figured, Wilds land far more frequently during them. The spins use the same Wild type as the mode you are in when triggering them.
Our View...
Untamed Wilds slot maintains interest in the base game and can drop some unexpectedly good wins in. The free games are entertaining due to the frequnt wins which Yggdrasil state can pay in excess of 2,500x bet if the animals are feeling benevolent. Your sounds and animations are really high standard as are the graphics which are not childish at all. The RTP is the usual 96.10 for this developer so you won't see the critters devour your balance too quickly either. Despite the name, this game is tame enough to get me back into the woods for another visit...
