Christmas Tree slot summary
Christmas Tree slot by Yggdrasil was developed by True Lab and is actually for once an original Christmas slot and not a rehash of existing ones. We see this all too often with for example Iron Dog's Christmas Megaways which is a copy of Pirate Kingdom Megaways and of course Nextgen's Foxin' Wins Christmas Edition which is a near-copy of Foxin' Wins Again slot. Here we have seasonal classic music you might expect from a Disney cartoon, a snowman by the grid and a snowy night time fantasy background. So can our bankroll get some of those gifts from under the tree or will it be a load of baubles again?
On the grid...
The obvious quirk of this Christmas Tree slot is that you get exactly that - a tree-shaped grid with 7 symbols on the bottom, 6 above and so-on with 2 forming the top. This gives us 27 positions and the pays are for clusters of 5 or more adjacent symbols with winning tiles replaced. The pays for 27 as the highest and 5 as the lowest are: low symbols are Green, Blue or Pink Baubles at 1500x bet and 0.1x bet, medium are Bell 6000/0.4x, Sweet 4500/0.3x, Rock Cane 3000/0.2x with the two top symbols Santa 15000/1x and Fairy 10500/0.7x. So there is some potential here and we are told it's capped at 25,000x bet which in testing happened 4 times in 1 billion spins!
Modifiers
The Snowman at the left isn't there for nothing and can wake up with a modifier in which he throws snowballs onto at least one low-paying symbol, which will transform into a Wild wherever it occurs on the grid.
You may also see a blizzard occur over the grid in which 3 to 9 Mystery Symbols are placed there, all revealing the same symbol which can be a Wild.
Bonus Rounds
There is a window to the right of the tree. It will spin before each play and offer either free spins, multiplier or bet win award. You need 3 successive winning clusters or more in one play to action the bonus.
Free Spins - you get 5 with an increasing multiplier and the Snowman active on every spin, no extra spins or retriggers possible.
Multiplier - the winning play which activated the multiplier will have the total reward multiplied from 2 to 30x.
Bet Win - a cash award of 2 to 1000x bet.
Our View...
Christmas Tree slot may look a bit juvenile but it has some surprising potential and to be fair isn't unpleasant to play for an extended period. There are some big prizes on offer and the free games, despite being only 5 of them, can really pile in some big wins and are rarely disappointing. The other two features have less potential and are really, no pun intended, stocking fillers between the free games hits. You get a Christmassy 96.40% RTP to boot, so I say you may be surprised at how happy you'll be with the presents under this particular tree...
