Jackpot Express slot summary
Jackpot Express slot by Yggdrasil is one of those 1920's kitsch themes where the rich and spoilt travel to faraway destinations consuming champagne and gourmet food. We have a similar look here to Yggdrasil's own Orient Express slot with characters you may have seen before in Netent's The Invisible Man slot or if unlucky, you may have played their pretty tedious Phantom of The Opera slot too. Here we have a riverboat as the background, cheesy jazz music to annoy us throughout our visit and pretty plain artwork. So can it be jackpots for our bankroll or the fast express to Loserville?
On The Reels...
We get 20 lines over 5 reels of 3 rows with stacked symbols. Scatters appear on the centre 3 reels and Wilds can appear singly on all, presumably paying equal to the best 5-of-a-kind who is the Captain at 12.5x, then Red Lady 7.5x, Green Lady 6.25x, Boater Hat Man 5x with four card suits of 3.5x down to 2.5x for a full line. Not much happens in the base game but there are several possibilities from landing the 3 scatters in the centre.
Jackpot Wheel
This is what you get most of all after landing the 3 scatters, probably because it pays trash 90% of the time. You get a 3-stage wheel with coins awards from 5 to 25x bet on the outer segments. Sometimes you might land on the 2x symbol which doubles all the wheel coin prizes and awards a re-spin. Some coin prizes may award an extra spin too, because if they don't you get stuck with the trash prize you won. If you are lucky, you'll miss those and get an arrow to move into the middle segment which has higher cash prizes from 25 to 100x bet, the Mini Jackpot or again an arrow to the third and final inner segment. This awards cash prizes or the Side Jackpot or the arrow into the centre where you would then win the Major Jackpot. The jackpots are seeded at 200.00, 1500.00 and 15000.00 respectively.
Free Games
If you are lucky enough to miss the Jackpot Wheel, the game picks you one of three free games mechanics. In all cases you get 10 spins and no retrigger possible.
Card Free Spins - each spin two cards are drawn and if yours beats the house card, a sticky Wild is added to the grid.
Dice Free Spins - after any win, the two dice are rolled to create a multiplier for it.
Roulette Free Spins - the roulette wheel has on it either extra spins, a multiplier for the current win or a sticky Wild for the grid.
Our View...
Jackpot Express is to me pretty much like their Holmes and The Stolen Stones slot. Looks good when you read the rules and see the range of features, but these are pretty poor most of the time. bear in mind without jackpots the game has a RTP of only 91.2% and 96.2% with them. Each spin, if you have the jackpots available, 3.83% goes into the pool. That's nothing unusual for progressive slots but again I got the feeling that the base game and feature potential suffered as a result. It's nothing great to look at or listen too either and I got fed up with waiting ages for the scatters only to be fobbed off every time with no free games and the pathetic outer jackpot wheel prizes. I will expressly forbid myself from ever playing for these jackpots again...
