Wild Pops slot summary
Wild Pops slot by Yggdrasil has a colourful if rather juvenile appearance with weird monster masks as the theme and a funny device by the left of the grid. That will be important later, but we've seen similar before with their Chibeasties slot if you go back a few years, then we get a bit nearer the mark with Poprocks slot. They like this kind of theme so much, we even got an improved Chibeasties 2 slot from them not long back. So will our bankroll be well and truly popped here, or can we have a wild time?
On The Reels...
We get an unusual 243-way game with Wild Pops slot which pays both ways as it were, right-to-left too so effectively having 486-ways. The grid also expands with every winning tile creating two spaces for the next ones to cascade down into. As you collect winning tiles, the meter on the left of the grid adds 1x to your in-play multiplier for every 7 tiles collected. the grid can expand up to 7 rows high giving an ultimate 33614-ways. You don't get Wilds initially, but each 3 consecutive winning actions will create 2 random Burning Wilds which are placed on the grid.
The 5-of-a-kind pays are Blue Poprock 30x bet, Yellow 5x, Green 4x, Purple 3x, Grey 2x, Red 1.5x, Orange or Turquoise 1.2x with six card values all paying 0.5x for a full way. As symbols appear individually, you can get them stacked. There are no scatters, but we don't need them as you may have guessed by the progressive nature of the mechanic here.
Bonus Mode
When the reels have fully expanded to 5x7 you trigger 3 lives once the winning actions cease on the triggering play. The reels remain on maximum ways of 33614 and you have 3 re-spins, each using a life when the winning combinations stop. Once all 3 lives are gone, represented by Red Hearts, the round is over. You still get increasing multipliers and retain the one you began the round with and these aren't reset during re-spins. Wilds still get added for the 3 consecutive winning actions.
Our View...
Despite the odd appearance, Wild Pops slot can be quite entertaining although it does have a low win frequency of 1/5 spins but a decent 96.30% RTP. Getting big wins in the base game can be hard as it's very volatile and centred around the bonus round of re-spins. When you fully expand the grid to get them, these can be lucrative as with 35 tiles in place the multipliers really rise fast as 7 winning tiles are easy and often you can see 14 or more in one cascade. We are told 17,707x bet is possible here and I can plainly see how wins in 4-figures can be achievable with numerous ways of the top pay at 30x on a big multiplier. Im actually going to have another pop at these Wilds myself...
