Microgaming-powered Royal Vegas has launched its first ‘wearable’ slot game through Android AIR mobile casino. Their first release is the classic slot title Thunderstruck, which is available on Android enabled smart watches.

The smartwatch requires a companion device, such as a tablet or smart phone to control the spinning of the reels. It does not operate as a standalone device when playing real money slots.

Thunderstuck has proven to one of the most successful slots of all time for Microgaming, so it was only natural that this 5-reel norse-inspired video slot should be first to market.

“There are many variations of smartwatches but the Android Wear casino is designed for smartwatches using Android Wear, the official Android operating system for wearable devices created by Google,” a statement from Royal Vegas explained Monday.

It went onto say,”This release of the Android Wear casino is not supported on other smartwatch devices, such as those produced by Pebble & those running the Tizen operating system.”

Although Thunderstruck appears to be the first real money slot on wearable technology, other companies have released gambling related products on smart watches. Both William Hill and Ladbrokes have developed apps that work on your watch and are set to continue developing the technology further as adoption of the devices increases.

An Apple watch equivalent of Thunderstruck is believed to be in development.
