Scientific Games, owner of major slot machine brands WMS and Bally, is set to develop a slot machine based on the popular Nintendo block-building game Tetris.

In a statement, Scientific Games told the market that they had signed an agreement to produce a slot machine based on the Tetris computer game for playing in casinos.

Tetris has achieved more than 500 million paid mobile downloads of the game. The simple game requires the user to place blocks in a pattern so that they remove all gaps and therefore can be eliminated.

“We look forward to working with the Tetris team to bring the iconic video game experience to our slot machines for players to enjoy on casino floors,” said Steve Saferin, president of Scientific Games Properties Group.
