Reel Riches Fortune Age slot summary
Reel Riches Fortune Age slot is another WMS Chinese-themed game in the fashion of their others such as Wishing You Fortune and Thai Flower and luckily they've kept the game relatively simple too. A plain red background with some decent glossy graphics greets us as we open the game with the obligatory Oriental musical soundtrack as we play and a gentle tinkling effect as wins are added to our balance. So far so good, but can Reel Riches Fortune Age turn your visit into an age of fortune as well?
On the reels...
There are 40 pay lines covering the 5 reels of 4 rows each and icons appear both singly and in stacks, including the Wilds in the form of silver tokens. We pay 40 coins for each spin and the pays aren't huge with the Wild offering us a mere 12.5x bet for 5-of-a-kind, the Emperor 150, Gold Money 125, the Gold Bowl 100 with the Vase, Bottle or Ace all paying 75 coins for a full line. As usual the card values are present with 10 through to King paying 50 coins.
Rather oddly there is also a stacked 'WILD' appearing on reel 5 as well as the stacked silver token Wild.
Wheel bonus
You will see some fixed jackpots displayed above all 5 reels. From left to right these are Mini, Minor, Major, Grand and Mega and pay 15, 25, 100, 500 and 1250x bet respectively. On occasion you may coloured coins replace the silver coin Wilds on any reel and these coins will match the colour of the jackpot displayed above that reel, i.e. green for the Mini on reel 1 or red for the Mega on reel 5. You will get an open wedge on the Wheel for each coin, obviously it's better to get all 4 coins stacked in view. You spin and either get a cash award of 1-8x stake, an upgrade where you will then spin on the next Wheel to the right or the jackpot for that corresponding reel. So theoretically you could get the lowest value Wheel on reel 1 and end up getting the Mega jackpot displayed over reel 5. I said 'theoretically'!
Free Spins bonus
The last symbols we haven't discussed is the Green Dragon of which 3, 4 or 5 in view will trigger a quite interesting free games round. A field of 18 Red Bags is displayed and you pick until you match 3 gems of the same colour, on a free spins/multiplier scale on the left of the screen. During these picks you can also collect a single +3 tile and/or a single 1x tile. These will add their respective benefit to all the 5 free spin quantities/multiplier listed on the left. The lowest you can get is 5 spins at 2x and best 23 spins at 4x (if you picked the 1x and +3 along the way and got the 3 Red Gems first which initially offers you 20 spins at 3x).
If you see a retrigger then you get credited 1 bonus in your bank in the centre beneath the reels. When the initial free spins end, you will then return to the picks process again and so-on. This can be quite fun when you store up more than one retrigger and the reels are different too in the free games with the stacked 'WILD' being on all 5 reels and the stacked silver coins removed - this is because you cannot trigger the Wheel Bonus in the free games.
Our View...
Reel Riches Fortune Age slot, along with other recent release Volts And Bolts, seems to have heralded a return by WMS to slots people actually want to play as opposed to some over-complex low-potential drones we have witnessed previously. The internal jackpots and the bonus games that could lead to them are generally fun and quite frequent plus the free games bonus while being nothing new is still nevertheless involving with some degree of anticipation. A good RTP of 96.01% and reasonable turnover of your bankroll means you should see a feature or two in any given session and the graphics/animations are of good quality. I'll make a return to this slot later and hopefully turn Reel Riches into some 'real riches'.....
