Vault of Fortune slot by Yggdrasil opens to a stunning vista of a dimly lit mansion room full of old artefacts, treasures and antiquities with accompanying mysterious music to set the scene. A good intro always makes an impression and this theme provides many an opportunity to incorporate modifiers and features so I am hoping this game won't disappoint. We have a touch of Holmes and The Stolen Stones slot here from the same developer, or Netent's Arcane Reel Chaos combined with their Mystery at the Mansion slot which are all decent games. On The Reels...
There are 20 pay lines on Vault of Fortune slot with symbols tumbling in individually which is odd as they don't appear to land more than one the same on any column. You can though achieve this second win as winning tiles are replaced from above and each win increases the multiplier for that play by 1x. You also see Switch Wilds and these will expand to 6 rows high when involved in a win. Any of the 3 positions used will disappear and then remaining Wilds tumble down until all 6 are either all used up or don't create a win.
The 5-of-a-kind pays are 25x bet Crown, 20x Faberge Egg, 15x Jade Cat or Vase and 8x for the four card suit Gem Necklaces. Your scatter here is a Codex and appears on all reels. Wilds can appear on all reels and Yggdrasil don't specify if it's possible to get all 5 at once, or what they pay but usually they would match the top-paying icon, in this case the 25x Crown.

You get 8 free spins for landing 3 Codex scatters, 12 for 4 and 20 for all 5. Any multiplier in play is carried forward to the bonus and as you may have already worked out, the enhancement is that the increasing multiplier doesn't reset between the free spins and is unlimited. You can also retrigger this round so there is some serious potential here for wins in the 1,000's times bet!
Our View...
Vault of Fortune slot has a RTP of 96.00% and is a volatile game, make no mistake. The graphics, sounds and animations are of the usual high Yggdrasil standards and you really need the expanding Wilds to win anything of note in the base game. The free games are hard to trigger, wins seem to dry up during them although they do retrigger quite often. That is good because you need to get wins for that multiplier to go up and the win frequency isn't high here, plus the Wilds aren't common either. When you do get more than one Wild in play, then the big wins will occur, especially if you have accrued a decent multiplier at that stage. I must reiterate, this vault is a risky place to seek your fortune...
