Maze Escape Megaways slot summary
Maze Escape Megaways slot by Fantasma Games is a hybrid of shifting reels, Megaways and a grid game. Fantasma never miss an opportunity to make seemingly complex slots but like the rest, after 50 or so spins you'll realize what's going on, although you could try and unravel the rules instead! We have heavy classical music here full of drama and the grid over some imposing old ruins with classical but cartoon symbols on the tiles. Previously we've had Flower Fortunes Megaways, a weird and wonderful game, Heroes Hunt Megaways which has a similar theme to this and Medallion Megaways slot from this developer, so this is their fourth edition using the license. So will our bankroll be escaping from this maze, hopefully with a profit?
On the grid...
There is a 6x7 grid here over which you get a minimum of 64 to a maximum of 117649-ways per spin. You will notice that the 6-of-a-kind pays on Maze Escape Megaways slot are low, as is usual with Fantasma, but multiple repeat wins and multipliers are possible (bonus round only). They are 3, 2.5 and 2x for the 3 high Character symbols, 1.5 down to 1x for the 3 Object symbols and finally 0.75x for all 3 low-pay Disc symbols. You get coin scatters which are collected in a meter to the left of the grid and Wild reels can only occur via the Maze Blocker tiles being activated, which can appear 0-6 times in any new play.
Path Re-spins
You will notice the centre tile of the first reel is always illuminated. If you get a win not covering this, it's merely standard. If a winning tile is illuminated, it becomes a Path symbol. This means the reels shift one to the left and re-spin with only the Blocker and winning tiles retained which are now arranged along the centre row adjacent. You will now see the rows of the new reel can increase and if when shifting to the left they cover a Blocker with a Minotaur on it will become a Wild Reel with a 1 - 7x multiplier. If the Athena Blocker moves left to a live tile position, you get 1-4 of your present Path symbols added, which may or may not help you win. Once the Path re-spins add no further winning tiles to maintain at least a 3-of-a-kind win of your Path symbol, the round ends.
Free Games
When you've collected 3 Gold Coin scatters, 10 free games are triggered. These play exactly as above, but now you get a Labyrinth Blocker which will appear each spin along with possible Minotaur and Athena Blockers. If activated, it will add 1-3x to your multiplier which can only increase and is never reset, or may add 1-3 extra spins. This round can go on for quite a while with many extra spins and has some not inconsiderable potential, as Fantasma tell us up to 20,000x bet is possible.
Our View...
Maze Escape Megaways slot has a 96.15% RTP and I must say I think it's the best Megaways they've made yet. The win frequency is low but you can get the Maze building occasionally and stack up multiple wins for your balance maintenance. The free games are very entertaining and it's fun to watch that total crawl up with the extra spins, then maybe rush up if you have decent multipliers in play which you'll need for the big hits.
