Dragon’s Temple slot summary
Dragon's Temple slot needs no explanation as to its theme, but IGT have very few Oriental games despite a large catalogue of online slots: 100 Pandas and the discontinued Triple Fortune Dragon are the only two that immediately come to mind. Our reels sit over a background of a red temple surrounded by red trees and an equally red sunset to ensure the Chinese lucky colour prevails here and we get the expected musical sounds and effects of the theme as we spin and the wins appear. There are some good graphics and animations here too, especially around the fire-breathing Dragons although surely they wouldn't turn our money to ashes?
On the reels...
Our visit to the temple begins with 5 reels of 4 rows each and 50 pay lines for which costs us 50 coins per play. Now we get some wonderful animations on the grid for certain icons such as the fish jumping and a sunrise over the Pagoda for example, but none so good as the Dragons! These appear singly on all reels in a different colour and will expand with a great visual display to turn the reel Wild and pay the best 5-of-a-kind win too at 20x bet, so see all 5 of these appear and 1000x stake is in the bank!
There are Ying-Yang scatters on the centre 3 reels to trigger our bonus and then the Dragon's Temple logo pays 20x too, Pagodas pay 10x, Lucky Tokens 8x, Fish 6x and Vase 5x with five card values paying 4x down to 0.6x for a full line of five. None of the symbols are stacked but you can see more than one card value the same on a reel.
Dragon's spins
So have seen our Ying-Yang on the centre 3 reels, we get to select from three different free spins options. You may have 15 free spins with reel 3 Wild, 10 with reels 2 and 4 Wild or if you're brave 5 spins with reels 1, 3 and 5 Wild. You can still get the expanding Wilds to fill the gaps if fortune smiles upon you too. You can't retrigger them as at least one of the 3 scatter reels becomes a sticky Wild so the icons are removed.
Our View...
Dragon's Temple slot has a fair bit of volatility to it due to the high potential pays and like many IGT's tends to be quite streaky in gameplay. The graphics and animations are very good though and the RTP is a decent 92.54-96.53% but again have no doubt that the game revolves around those expanding Wilds appearing plus the much rarer free games trigger. You can choose the volatility of the bonus, same as WMS's Wishing You Fortune for example, and I would recommend the 5 spins for maximum returns. The temple may look inviting, the game is good but those dragons can incinerate your bankroll fast...
