Hexbreaker 2 slot summary
Superstitions go hand in hand with playing slots. No doubt those that have played slots in a casino will have seen other players touching, tapping or in some cases slapping the screen in the hope it might make the symbols fall in the right places. So it seems interesting to me that a slot that contains symbols typically linked with bad luck or misfortune should become popular for a slot game. However, this is exactly what has happened with Hexbreaker 2 from IGT. It is the latest slot game that made its name in land based casinos, to now be available online and conveniently coinciding with Halloween.
Bad luck or Good luck?
To many the symbols on the reels in Hexbreaker 2 represent signs of pending misfortune. Black cats (that presumably cross your path), broken mirrors, upside down horse shoes (scatter), ravens and the number 13 are accompanied by the Jinx, Wild and the Hex Breaker symbols. Not forgetting the classic J-Q-K which fill the remaining positions on the reels.
MutliWay Xtra 720 Ways to Win
Hexbreaker 2 slot is another MultiWay Xtra slot offering 720 ways to win. This means 3 or more matching symbols appearing on adjacent reels in both left-to-right and right-to-left directions will form a winning line. If you have played the jungle-themed Prowling Panther or the big cat-inspired Sumatran Storm you will already be familiar with this form of pays. Wins aren’t as regular as you might think, despite there being so many ways of winning - it’s very cleverly done by IGT.
Break the Hex by triggering the bonus
With all these unlucky symbols there must be some way of breaking the Hex, right? Well there is, you just need to trigger the free spins bonus by landing 5 upside down horseshoe scatters on adjacent reels simultaneously. If you are successful in doing so then you will trigger 10 free spins on a special set of reels that contain nothing but lucky symbols. The bonus reels contain 4 leaf clovers, right-way up horseshoes, lady bugs, karma symbols and a whole host of lower value numbers. Quite what is lucky about a white cat is beyond me, but they are also found on the bonus reels. The bonus can be re-triggered at any stage during the bonus free spins with 5 right-way up horseshoes. This will award another 10 free spins which is capped at 260 free spins per bonus. I have never got anywhere near 260 free spins, so I would be surprised if it is possible (maybe someone somewhere has seen it happen).
Worth noting that in normal gameplay the Hex Breaker symbol has the highest value. Land 5 of these on adjacent reels at the same time and you will be sitting back watching a very nice win count itself up. The Jinx symbol is another one to keep an eye out for, with up to 100x available if 5 land simultaneously. Hexbreaker 2 also has stacked Wilds on reels 2, 3, and 4, which are the quickest way to some big wins in normal play.
Our View…
It’s great to see IGT build on their MultiWay Xtra brand with another exciting slot. For fans of this type of unique reel layout this will be another glorious gift. For me Hexbreaker 2 is a frustrating game, as I sit there and watch spin after spin deliver 3 or 4 scatter symbols. The frustration eventually turns me off and I go looking for something else to play. As sequels go Hex Breaker 2 is one of the better one and beats Lucky Larry’s Lobstermania 2 slot for entertainment.
