Treasures of the Pyramids slot review

treasures of the pyramids slot main gameYou may be wondering what a black panther has to do with ancient Egypt. And you will be wondering for some time longer as I have no idea either. However, this is the key symbol and also the icon of IGT’s slot Treasure of the Pyramids. It has 5 reels, with 40 paylines and importantly there are 4 positions on each reel. The significance of this is key to this slot, as there are greater returns in the main game because of it.

Very much an Egyptian feel

Forget the panther for a minute, all the symbols in this slot could have been lifted from any number of Egyptian themed slots from IGT, such as Cleopatra 2 or Pharaoh’s Fortune. Joining these symbols is the usual array of A-K-Q-J-10, the Pyramid scatter and the double stacked Panther Wild. This double symbol is the key to many wins on the reels, creating a lot of 5-of-a-kinds and other winning combinations. Get 5 Wilds on a payline and you will be jumping for joy, with 5000x your line stake awarded.

2x multiplier on all wins in the free spins feature

To trigger the free spins feature in Treasures of the Pyramids you will need to see 3 or more Pyramids in any position on the reels. You will trigger between 8 – 100 free spins with a 2x multipler on all wins. This feature can retrigger at any time, with a maximum of 600 free spins! I have never landed 5 scatters in a single spin, but I imagine you would be pretty pleased with yourself if you did.

Our View…

The last couple of slots that have come off the production line at IGT have had a very land-based feel about them and Treasures of the Pyramids is no different. The clunky noise of the reels landing, to imitate the old one-arm bandits along with the vibrating screen and ringing bell after any significant win are all indicators of this. Why IGT are doing this now, when all their competitors are moving into different formats is slightly surprising, but perhaps they are reverting to what they know best. Treasures of the Pyramids is a fairly decent slot and will appeal to regular slots players that like the chance of big bonus wins. For me though, IGT have plenty of this old fashioned style of game and I would like to see some innovation come out of their studios instead.
