On the reels...
We get 7 rows on each of the six reels of Merry Megaways plus a top scroll of 4 symbols over the middle resulting in 324-200704 ways to win. Symbols can appear stacked and so can wilds on reels 2-6 as well as them appearing on the top scroll. We even get a sticky Wild occasionally on the top scroll in the form of a cracker which will remain until it doesn't produce any wins, at which point it explodes and removes a symbol from every reel and adds 2 extra positions too; the 8 symbols may or may not continue your series of winning tumbles. You can only get one Cracker. The Sleigh scatter appears only on the middle 4 main reels and finally Santa may randomly remove symbols when your winning tumbles end which again may or may not continue the wins. The symbols pays are 0.4 to 0.6x for 6-of-a-kind card values, 1.2x Glass of Milk or Pudding, 2.5x Candy Cane, 3x Elf, 4x Rudolf and finally Santa at 5x.

The free games of Merry Megaways are triggered by 4 scatters on the middle main reels and a bauble will reveal 6-11 spins - you can buy this for 200x bet in some countries. In fact you can buy 7, 9, 11, 15 or 20 spins for 45, 150, 300, 400 and 500x respectively if permitted. If you buy the 15 or 20 spins you get a higher chance of Crackers and Sacks. Anyway, the spins come with an increasing multiplier of 1x for every winning tumble and you do get a modifier. This comes in the form of Santa's Sack on the top scroll which when it appears adds 2 free spins and 2-4 Wilds to reels 2-4. If two sacks appear then you get 4 more spins and the extra Wilds can also be added to reel 5 - you can get a maximum of two Sacks in a spin. You will also notice a 'Lucky Last Spin' which means if you get any win with it, will then add another free game and so-on until you get a losing spin. The feature is very volatile!
Our View...
Merry Megaways slot is pretty pleasant to listen to and watch which to be fair most Christmas-themed games are. Your base game is quite good here with plenty of random events and some decent wins possible from them which is good as the feature can be hard to land. This itself is very volatile and is dependent on the Crackers and Sacks to pay anything good - if they don't appear it's quite a bleak round with little potential and will be over fast. When they do and your reels have a lot of ways with a good multiplier at the time, then very big wins could appear despite the relatively low symbol pays. The game has a 95.90% RTP and a win cap of 20,000x stake. To get near that amount you would need to find Santa in a very benevolent mood this year...
