Redroo slot summary
Redroo slot will give you bigger clue as to the theme if you are aware that Lightning Box are an Australian developer - yes it's a Kangaroo that takes centre stage here, just as in Aristocrat's Big Red. Other Australian icons form the symbols on the reels which sit on a background panorama of The great Australian Outback. The sounds are an odd combination of didgeridoo, animal noises such as the kookaburra and a pianola playing with the symbols an equally strange mix too as we will see. Can Redroo slot rain riches down on to these dry and barren plains?
On the reels...
There are 5 reels of 4 rows each and no pay lines as Redroo is 1024-way game with stacked symbols and 40 coins staked per play. The Red Kangaroo is the highest award at 6.25x bet for a 5-of-a-kind win followed by the male and female surfers (not sure where the surf is in the outback!) at 5x bet, and the parakeets and sheepdog pay 3.75x for the 5. Yes, there are Border Collies on the huge sheep ranches in The Outback so at least they fit the theme here! The remaining symbols are card values at 3.5 down to 2.5x stake for a full pay of 5.
There are single Wilds on the centre 3 reels in the form of Ayer's Rock, which is sacred to the indigenous Aboriginal people, plus Green Australia bonus symbols on all reels which we need for the game's bonus round.
Bush bonus
If you land 3, 4 or 5 Australia scatters anywhere in view you are given 8, 15 or 20 free games. You can retrigger them and 2 scatters add 5 extra free games to your total. At this stage I can no longer avoid the fact that Redroo is a copy of numerous similar slots such as Bally's Thunderhorn, Aristocrat's Buffalo and many others even by Lightning Box such as Silver Lion. You will then know that the enhancement is that any Wilds appearing in a win will display either a 2x or 3x multiplier thus giving a maximum of 27x on a 4 or 5-reel win if all 3 land on the middle 3 reels.
Our View...
Redroo slot is a game that copies a proven, existing and quite old slot formula. How many examples do we need to to see of the same game mechanics simply overlaid with a different theme? The RTP is 95.30% which is comparable to the multitudes of other versions by various developers and the volatility is medium to high due to the potential for large wins in the bonus rounds. For those that enjoy pursuing big wins, regardless of the number of spins needed to achieve this, you could say Redroo is 'fair dinkum'.
