Twin Spin Megaways slot review
Twin Spin Megaways slot by Netent is the latest in a string of their old classics to be given the Megaways treatment, this time based on the original 243-way classic Twin Spin slot. The first to get the Megaways makeover was Piggy Riches Megaways, followed by a very decent Megaways version of the high-volatility Gonzo's Quest. Here we have the same old trilling music and sound effects as before, the plain blue background with dark reels and retro fruity symbols. So can we see our bankroll get cloned here too, or will it be a case of mega-pain?
On The Reels...
We have 6 reels of 2-7 rows each on a random basis on Twin Spin Megaways slot, resulting in 64 to 117649-ways per spin. Symbols appear stacked as before and of course at least 2 reels clone for each spin, randomly increasing to 3,4,5 or even all 6 reels. The pays of the old Twin Spin have been reduced drastically to make the Megaways maths work, and now we only get 10x bet for the Diamond as opposed to 40x on the old 243-way game. The 7's are 5x bet for 6-of-a-kind, Bars 3x, Bells 1.5x, Cherries 1.5x with the 6 card values paying 0.6 down to 0.4x. The first difference in the mechanics is that the winning symbols disappear to allow new ones from above and Wilds can appear singly on reels 2 to 6.

Now, this is the second difference to the original game, free spins! You get 15 spins for 5 scatters and +1 spin for any scatter over the 5 along with the possibility of retriggering. During the free spins, the cloned 2+ adjacent reels are always seven rows high and the final and potentially most important difference is the fact Wilds can now randomly display 2x or 3x multipliers, so there is some potential here. However, you can only get one Wild multiplier per spin unless they appear on the conjoined or cloned reels to a maximum of 4 reels. The Wilds multiply each other.
Our View...
I am pleasantly surprised to say Netent got Twin Spin Megaways slot right, keeping the volatility around medium and a decent 96.04% RTP. The sounds, music and appearance may be the same, but why fix it if it ain't broke? You have regular small to medium wins, and the free games aren't hard to get but don't expect insane 10,000x bet results here as it's designed around playability and game time for your money. You could still win very well, but you won't be hitting 6 reels of the same symbol stacked 4-high like with Queen of Riches slot, here it will be 3 so 729 ways of most symbols which will pay near enough the same as a full screen of card values on the original game unless it can do that with 7's across the board for example. I've played Twin Spin for years, but will happily replace it with this game...
