Book of Ra Magic is a slot that just had to appear eventually given that over 30 developers have a version of the famous Book Of Ra Deluxe high-volatility 10-liner. The game is cosmetically identical to Book of Ra Deluxe and still has the 5 reels of 3 rows each and 10 paying lines. The grinning Explorer is still our best 5-of-a-kind win at 500x bet, with the Pharaoh's Mask 200x, Scarab and Ra Statue 75x with the five card values at 15x for A or K and 10x for 10, J or Q. The symbols are single and the Book doubles up as both Wild and scatter of which we must see 3 or more anywhere in view to trigger the same old 10 free spins. Yes, the sounds are also identical but now you'll see that you can use the 'Start' button to stop the reels more quickly, dangerously speeding up play on a very volatile game!
Books bonus
So no surprise that we get the same 10 spins for three scatters and that the game selects one of the nine icons to become an expanding scatter, effectively applying a 10x multiplier (due to the 10 lines) to any winning amount of 2 to 5 of the selected icon in view. Now we get back to Merkur and their Magic Mirror slot - subsequently they made a 'Deluxe' version of it whereby instead of giving you re-triggers for 3 more scatters in the free games, you'd get another expanding symbol added to the reels along with the 10 extra spins. This means that with 8 re-triggers you'd get all nine winning icons as expanding ones!
No surprise then that Novomatic have added this variant to the 9-line, 10-line and Book Of Ra 6 reel versions already available. Book Of Ra is re-trigger-heavy in the feature so this is certainly going to produce a more volatile and interesting free games round.
Our View...
Book of Ra Magic slot has the same RTP as the 10-line Deluxe version at 95.03% but I think this format will make the feature far more volatile than at present by producing more bonus rounds paying 500x bet plus and certainly more exceeding 1000x stake. Whether players will welcome this only time will tell but having seen those mad bonuses Merkur's Magic Mirror Deluxe has produced I reckon some players will be in for some big hits. The base game in Book of Ra is notoriously mean though so beware of this bankroll-eater and be careful you don't push too hard to hit the bonus games. As for me, a regular player of the Deluxe game, I will be champing at the bit for a magic session on this game...
