So far we've seen Book of Tut (an unoriginal mechanic based on Book of Ra) and Da Vinci's Treasure which was better and Tomb of The Scarab Queen which I prefer of those three. No frills here, with dramatic music and the reels set in an old temple naturally, with a jungle background and plain symbols. There are 10 pay lines over 5 reels of 3 rows on John Hunter and The Mayan Gods slot. Gold Idol Wilds appear on the centre 3 reels and expand if a win can be formed, Temple scatters on all reels too. the 5-of-a-kind pays are 50x John Hunter, 40x bet Mayan God, 30x Dragon, 25x Ring, 20x Dagger or Goblet with four card values all paying 10x for a full line. Landing 2 Wilds takes you up 2 levels and awards +3 spins. If you get 3 Wilds you get +5 spins and move up 3 levels. There are 6 levels and the last one means that all picture symbols on the grid are now John Hunter, the rest Wilds and card values and scatters. It's a volatile slot so can pay big when this happens!
Our View...
John Hunter and The Mayan Gods slot has a good 96.46% RTP and with the stacked symbols can actually pay some nice base game hits. I like the look and animations but why do we get silly circus music when a big win occurs? It simply doesn't go with the theme. The free games aren't too rare here and you will usually get up to one of the two top levels unless unlucky, but you will notice when on the top level with only John as the premium icon, how hard it is to hit more than 3-of-a-kind! So yes, it's worth going exploring here with our friend John, but don't be surprised if you come back empty-handed...
