There really isn't a slot you can directly compare this mechanic to which is a good thing in itself, although the retro theme is beginning to become more common in the slots world with titles such as Netent's Joker Pro, Barcrest's Burn Em Up and Red Tiger's Win Escalator which all use the old-style fruits and symbols. Here we get bright colours over a blue shooting star background with some funky music when we open the game up and some very reassuring thudding as the reels stop. On The Reels...
We get a standard grid of 5 reels of 3 rows each on Red Hot Win Spin slot as there are 243 ways to win with no fixed pay lines. Symbols are single with Wilds present only on reels 2 and 4 although scatters will appear on any reel. The traditional symbols offer us the Red 7 as the top pay with 10x bet for each 5-of-a-kind, then Bell or Bar 5x, Plum, Grape or Melon 3.2x, Orange or Lemon 24x and Lemon or Cherry 1.6x. Reels of Fire
You have standard Win Spin scatters in silver on reels 1 to 4 and a Red Hot Win Spin scatter on reel 5. To ensure we aren't always disappointed with the two-scatter teases, if we get 2 scatters and one of them is the Red Hot one on reel 5, we get a respin series. This can pay nothing and takes place on enhanced reels with symbols appearing stacked and no scatters, but if you do get a win the reels will keep spinning wins in until they stop coming. This can award numerous consecutive winning spins for a decent total.
Win Spin Bonus
This is your second chance at seeing the blue background turn red with the promise of rewards. This time you need any 3,4 or 5 scatters to appear and you you will be given 4,5 or 6 lives respectively. You would rather have the Red Hot scatter in the trigger though as this provides an advantage during the bonus, which we'll get to shortly. The reels will only have scatters, Wilds and the Hot Symbol displayed, the other positions are blanks. Your first Hot Symbol is the Cherries and now these can appear stacked. You need any Cherry win otherwise you'll lose a life. Two to four scatters will award 1,2 or 3 extra lives, and once you have a Cherry win, your hot symbol becomes the Lemon, and so-on hopefully rising through all 10 symbols.
Only if you got the trigger with the Red Hot scatter included will this will appear again on reel 5 - as well as giving extra lives when appearing with at least one other scatter it ensures your next spin is the win required to carry on through the symbols. If your lives last long enough to go through the whole cycle to the Red 7's, you then begin again with Cherries afterwards but with the benefit of a 2x multiplier henceforth. This can rise by 1x indefinitely for every cycle completed. The final but much rarer enhancement is to hit all 5 scatters in the Win Spin Bonus. Regardless of whether one of your triggering scatters was the Red Hot one, if you do this you will get a guaranteed 10-spin win streak of the Hot Symbol thus taking you up a level!
Our View...
Red Hot Win Spin slot quite simply ticks many boxes for the player due to the fact you have a multiway mechanic, increasing multiplier in the bonus and a second tier feature to provide some action while waiting for the main event. Extra lives are quite easy to land and you can really rack up some high totals which is exciting to watch as just when you think it's all over, in come the scatters for yet more lives. The bonus can last for in excess of 10 minutes if you are having a good one and there is some high potential here too for totals in the four-figure range times your stake.
