Reel King Mega slot is actually an improved version of the original land-based UK Arcade slot Reel King which was in accordance with regulations limited to a 500x bet jackpot. Reel King was introduced to online players by Novomatic who took over the maker Astra back in the noughties but oddly this version is presented via the Red Tiger interface! Old arcade slots do appear online like Barcrest's Cashino and Rainbow Riches and true to their design have a 500x maximum win, as we have here. Reel King Mega uses the same basic sounds as the cabinet game and the theme is basic symbols with a jolly cartoon king thrown in for the feature, so will he give royal blessing to our bankroll?
Reel King Mega retains exactly the same symbols and sounds as before over its 20 fixed pay lines on a 5x3 grid. There are stacked Wilds on all reels bar the first with other symbols stacked too. The 5-of-a-kind pays are 25x bet for the Treasure Bags, 10x Kings, 5x Q, 3x J or 10 and 2x Plum or Cherries. There are no scatters but we do get random modifiers added to this game in that firstly symbols can land as large 2x2 blocks and secondly the King may add Wilds to the grid after any spin to create or improve a win. So there are your only two differences to the original Reel King.
As before, each reel may play a brief tune when it stops and if all 5 do then your feature is triggered. They also turn yellow here too if you can't hear this brief sound for whatever reason. So once you've had the magic sound on all 5 reels and they've gone yellow, you get at least one mini slot presented to you beneath the King's gown. This will produce a series of wins of 2x bet for mixed 7's, 5x for Blue 7's, 10x for Yellow 7's and 25x for Red 7's on the single line. You will usually get to 25x bet before the slot stops with a losing spin, but it can be less.
As I said, you may get more than one mini slot and you need the King to grant you all 5 slots for a chance of the 500x bet jackpot. When he does, these will go over the normal 25x bet cap and play out win and after win until they've accrued 500x between them. It's not guaranteed though as 5 mini slots may also stop at 125 or 250x bet, but it's rarer than the top prize.
Reel King Mega slot has one completely pointless change, the 2x2 symbols, as the reels had stacked symbols anyway and the top prize is still the same! The other change, the random Wilds is fine but overall still makes no difference to the volatility or RTP of the game overall, which is 96.17%. The graphics, sounds and animations are just as basic as the cabinet game so this was nice and easy for the developer but with the 500x bet win cap still in place, it's a slot I'm not sure anybody needed or wanted in the first place. Nevertheless, it's definitely worth a visit from the old arcade game fans...
