Ancient Eclipse slot from Yggdrasil brings a new partner studio into the frame, in this case Bang Bang Studios. They stick with the common and safe theme of the Mayan and Aztec temple which rather predictably lies ruined in the jungle behind the reels, equally predictable tribal music and symbols finish the slot off. With elements of IGT's Solar Disc slot, the scatter off of their Mayan Riches slot and the stone reels of Maya Gold slot maybe they could have made this game rather than Bang Bang! You have 5 reels of 4 rows and 50 pay lines here on Ancient Eclipse slot with symbols appearing single or double-stacked mostly. the 5-of-a-kind pays provide 10x bet for the Sun Disc Wild (only via a modifier), 5x Red Idol, 4x Purple, 3.5x Pink, 2.5x Blue and 2x Green with four card suits all at 1x. Mayan Chief scatters appear on the middle 3 reels and Silver Moons anywhere but these don't pay as they are part of the only modifier. When they appear they will leave a gold surround on their position afterwards, and these stay in place until finally a Silver Moon lands in one of them, to turn them all into Sun Disc Wilds via the Wild Eclipse feature.

You get 10 for the 3 scatters. No retriggers but any Silver Moon landing adds +1 spin, except when it lands to trigger the Wild Eclipse as described above. Considering a full screen of Wilds would pay only 500x bet, I am wondering how the game in testing apparently produced a best win of over 5,200x!! The free spins must've gone on forever.

Ancient Eclipse slot has one major benefit in that the RTP is very good at 96.64%. Otherwise, it looks very humdrum, sounds tedious and has limited animations. The base game is poor unless you collect enough positions for a good Wild Eclipse modifier. Free games aren't hard to trigger, which is hardly surprising considering they pay so badly most of the time. Like any eclipse, my time time spent with this slot turned out to be very brief...
