Globally renowned entertainment company Disney has confirmed this week that it is not to renew its licensing deals with online slot developers that manufacture Marvel-themed slots.
Over the past few years, there have been some of the most successful slot releases by online slot developers such as Playtech that have been based on the Marvel superheroes including high-octane The Incredible Hulk slot, the popular mythology-themed Thor slot and the extremely thrilling The Avengers slot.
It is believed that the reason for the discontinuation of the licensing agreements with slots developers over the Marvel brand is because Disney wants to portray a more family-friendly image and an association with gambling does not fit into that new approach.
A Disney spokesperson commented “Marvel discontinued plans to initiate or renew slot machine licensing arrangements as part of its integration with Disney. The handful of remaining licence agreements have expiration dates within the next few years.”
However, there are still a number of years left before some of the licensing deals with slots developers expire so fans of the Marvel slots will still be able to enjoy Marvel-themed slots for the foreseeable future.
