The Golden City slot summary
The Golden City slot by iSoftBet is a rare outing into the cascading tile format for this developer. Possibly the most iconic version of this is Netent's Gonzo's Quest and there have been other notable games of the same mechanic including Leander's Fortune Fireworks and Elements if we return to Netent again. The theme here is Aztec with statues adorning the reels which are housed in the obligatory temple with the pipe music from the region providing the soundtrack. On The Reels...
You get 20 fixed pay lines on The Golden City slot and all the 15 tiles on the 5x3 grid are individual reels. Your pays for 5-of-a-kinds are Blue or Red Idol 25x bet, Green Idol 15x, Purple Idol 12.5x the the lower pays are Blue Gem for 10x, Pink 5x, Green 2.5x and finally Yellow 2x. Wins accumulate if you get successive cascades in your favour and the Golden Idol Wild can appear on any reel as an unlimited stack, in other words it will keep the reel wild as long as wins occur. Scatters are in the form of a Gold Compass and trigger a fun bonus game.
Trail Bonus
You need the Compasses on reels 1,3 and 5 to trigger a trail board where you roll dice to pick up coin prizes, free spins and Golden Keys. If you collect 3 Keys you will get to the Prize Pyramid which in turn has a high-value wheel should you get to the top of it, which can pay up to 1000x bet. If you land on START during the trail, you play your colelcted free spins and each scatter appearing during them will pay the value you managed to accumulate during the trail. Neither the Pyramid or the free spins are guaranteed but you'd be unlucky not to unlock one or the other!
Our View...
The Golden City slot is quite fun to play as it's certainly colourful and action-packed which in turn makes the game interesting. Your RTP is an average 96.10% but at least we have some potential if we can get to the top of that pyramid here, and the free spins can award a fair amount if you accumulate enough of them. It's hard to hit high total in the base game cascades but those Wild reels can come in every useful if they are towards the left of the reels, for repeated winning. Not quite Paradise City, but Golden City may be a worthwhile destination for your money...
