Slingo, as a brand name, has been around since the 90’s, and originated in New Jersey, USA. The brand name is mix of the words ‘Bingo’ and ‘Slots’ to create ‘Slingo’. The rights to the brand name ‘Slingo’, and the games developed under this name, were acquired by the London-based games developer Gaming Realms in 2015. Slingo is now overseen by Gaming Realms and based in London, UK.
Early titles
The first slingo game to be released, back in 1996, was Slingo Classic – which was a hybrid of the 5 x 5 classic slot with a bingo theme. Slingo slots were popping up in land-based casinos, thanks to a partnership with IGT and Caesars Entertainment back in 1999. However, it was in 2012 that one of the first Slingo online slots was released in the form of Slingo Cleopatra. The Egypt-themed online slot is still one of the most popular Slingo titles to date. Since the acquisition by Gaming Realms, Slingo has been a more prolific slot games developer. Some of the more notable releases in the past years include Deal or No Deal Slingo, released in 2016 and the 2022 release Slingo: Fire and Ice.
The core mechanic developed by Slingo was the one which combined 5 x 5 bingo grid with spinning wheels, associated with slot games. Slingo slots incorporate popular slot mechanics like wilds and super wilds. Additionally, the company has also come up with its mechanics. One of those is ‘blockers’, which help prevent marking numbers and the other one is ‘power-ups’. Power-ups enable players to get multipliers, free spins and other bonus features associated with slots.
Slingo holds a license from the Malta Gaming Authority and also has content licenses for United States markets like New Jersey and Connecticut. Slingo slots are distributed through some of the biggest online casinos in the United Kingdom and New Jersey. The company develops its games for Relax Gaming.
