Pop slot summary
Pop slot by Big Time Gaming isn't of their recent Cluster Pays format like Cyberslots for example or even a Megaways! Here we get their third 256-way 4x4 game in the form of Donuts slot, which was very good, and Chocolates slot which I believe supplies the underlying maths for this slot game. There's no junk food this time though, we have a pier fairground as the theme with jaunty music and of course, as the name suggests, plenty of balloons. So can our bankroll rise along with these balloons or will it go 'pop' - very quickly?
On the reels of Pop slot...
Unlike the other two 256-way games mentioned above, this time on Pop slot we get replacement symbols after any wins in the form of balloons rising from beneath. These form the high pay symbols too as initially you only get card values and blanks landing on the grid, no scatters or Wilds. The card values only pay 4-of-a-kinds, the Balloons 3OAK too. The 4OAK pays are 2x Purple Balloon, 1x Red, 0.9x Blue, and 0.8x Green with six card values paying 0.4 down to 0.2x for each full way. On all reels but the first, you can see a Rainbow Wild Balloon appear, which will randomly apply a 2-4x multiplier, if more than one appears they are multiplicative. As said, the Balloons scatters and Wilds will always rise into positions not covered by card values on each spin.
Pop slot free spins
You'll likely trigger these after a succession of winning reactions during the same spin by which time you've collected 3 Gold Coin scatters on the grid. No matter how many you get, there is no payment for them nor any extra spins, you get 12. You get +3 spins if collecting another 3 or more during any individual free spin.
Now before the free games start, 1 or more of the positions where your scatters were will get a 2,3, or 4x multiplier superimposed over it. This will apply to any color Balloon landing over it, including the Wild one. These multipliers apply to any way-wins using that color Balloon or Wild. After winning actions, any vacated position can also have a multiplier added to it, or an existing one be increased, with no limit. Ideally, you'd like all 16 positions to get multipliers, in a similar way you'd want all positions to get a sticky Box on Chocolates slot.
Our View of Pop slot...
Pop slot is visually quite eye-catching and entertaining, with some decent hits possible when 2 or more Wild rainbow multipliers land. You also get a good 96.54% RTP alongside the reasonable base game performance. Free games aren't that infrequent, although they are very hit-and-miss and tend to telegraph the fact you will win a sizeable amount by way of awarding several multiplier positions early on. You have the potential for well over 5,000x bet but be prepared for the common BTG feature outcome of 10-40x bet in many of them! One thing I don't like and I doubt any experienced Bonanza player will, is the fact you get the big-win wheezy siren noise from that slot and other BTG games for puny 1-2x wins of 4OAK using a multiplier Wild in them. You hear this noise, look keenly at the screen expecting to have hit big but most certainly have not! Aside from that major annoyance, I'll certainly be having another pop at these balloons...
